Misfit Marketing is a boutique social-first creative agency based in New York, working with founder-led consumer brands across food, hospitality, and CPG. We help our clients show up online in a way that feels real, not like a brand pretending to be cool.
We have two New York-based clients in the hospitality and restaurant space who now need content support at their LA locations. We're looking for a freelance content creator and videographer based in LA to be our eyes and hands on the ground out west.
What you'll be shooting:
- Social-first content for Instagram and TikTok (vertical, fast-turn, native-feeling)
- Restaurant and hospitality content (interiors, food, ambiance, guests)
- A mix of video and photo
- A lot of iPhone content, with camera work when it makes sense
- BTS and on-the-fly capture during shoot days
How you'll work with us: You'll be managed remotely by our NYC team, with our founder flying in for bigger shoots or events. Day to day, you'll get direction from our social and editorial teams, but you'll be the one running things on the ground.
You're also welcome (and encouraged) to bring a friend along to shoot when it helps, especially when you need to be in the content yourself. We'll comp them with free food from the client when they help out.
What we're looking for:
- Based in LA and able to move around the city for shoots
- Comfortable on camera. You'll be in the content sometimes, not just behind it
- Strong creator instincts. We want someone who knows how to make content, not just film it
- iPhone content is fine. Fancy gear isn't required, but having your own camera is a plus
- Comfortable shooting both video and photo
- Sharp eye for food, hospitality, and lifestyle aesthetics
- Easy to work with on set, professional with clients, and dependable
- Self-directed, since you'll often be shooting solo or with a friend
- Bonus: editing experience (we already have an editor, but it's a plus)
- Bonus: active on social media, a content creator yourself, or have some social media experience
Logistics:
- Project-based to start, paid hourly
- Potential to grow into a retainer if it goes well
- Flexibility on when content gets shot. We'll work around your schedule within reason
- Friends brought on to assist will be comped with food from the client
