North County Music Academy (NCMA), is currently seeking a highly skilled Guitar Instructor to work as a part-time employee providing music lessons and classes to inspire students of all ages at our Encinitas, California location.
Music Instructors at NCMA provide students of all ages an inspiring and well-balanced music education. By teaching theory and technique using music that students know and love, NCMA instructors develop musicians who enjoy performing at local events, recording in our studio, and even composing original music!
This instructor role offers an exciting opportunity to cultivate musical talent, foster creativity, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in guitar performance, along with a dedication to nurturing students’ technical skills and artistic expression. As a key member of our arts education team, you will design engaging lesson plans, manage diverse classroom environments, and support students’ growth in both musical proficiency and confidence.
Position Responsibilities:
• Teach private lessons and classes that cover guitar technique and performance, as well as music theory and concepts
• Create an encouraging, fun, and focused lesson atmosphere
• Assess a student’s readiness to join an NCMA rock band
• Assist at NCMA promotional events as assigned
• Repair and maintain NCMA-owned guitars as needed and according to ability
Required Skills and Experience:
• Must demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and be able to communicate those concepts effectively to students
• Must have an advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to guitar
• Effective time management and organizational skills to keep students on task in a lesson
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities
• Must have experience as a guitar performer (either solo or group)
• Experience teaching guitar to students of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced
• Able to interact effectively with children and adults
• Able to pass a background check
• Ability to play and teach instruments in addition to guitar (such as piano, voice, drums, wind instruments, orchestral strings) is highly desirable
• Must have a valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
North County Music Academy offers the opportunity to work a flexible part-time schedule in a fun environment with other like-minded musicians. We handle the marketing, scheduling, booking, billing and other business aspects of the lessons & group classes so that you can focus on teaching.
NCMA offers an hourly rate that is based on education, experience, expertise, and availability.
