POSITION SUMMARY:
Bartenders/Mixologists possess strong prioritization, multitasking, and communication skills. They demonstrate extensive spirits knowledge and a refined understanding of flavor profiles and cocktail balance.They are responsible for delivering exceptional beverage and dining experiences at the bar, preparing all cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages for both the bar and dining room service. This role requires consistent attentiveness, hospitality, and the ability to create a welcoming and engaging guest environment. Bartenders/Mixologists are expected to craft high-quality, innovative cocktails while maintaining standardized recipes and supporting an elevated guest experience through professionalism, efficiency, and creativity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet guests promptly upon arrival at the bar and ensure a welcoming atmosphere (within 1 minute of approach).
- Present drink menus, provide recommendations, and answer beverage-related questions.
- Take and accurately input beverage orders from guests and servers into the POS system.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Demonstrate advanced mixology skills, including cocktail creation, garnish execution, and flavor pairing.
- Upsell featured cocktails, wine, beer, and food items as directed by management.
- Execute wine service when required, including bottle presentation and service standards.
- Regularly check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with beverages and overall experience.
- Clearly communicate all allergy and dietary restriction information to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain tables in bar and dining areas when assigned.
- Process guest payments accurately, including cash handling and credit card transactions.
- Build rapport with guests and recognize returning patrons by name when possible.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times, ensuring guest-facing behavior meets company standards.
- Respond promptly to guest requests or concerns.
- Report maintenance or equipment issues to management immediately.
- Assist with inventory management and stock organization.
- Maintain bar cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation at all times.
- Ensure bar is fully stocked and prepared for service, including restocking and inventory support.
- Support proper sanitation standards and comply with all company procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with Front of House, Back of House, and hotel teams to ensure seamless service.
- Contribute to a positive teamwork environment.
- Provide sincere guest farewells and uphold hospitality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management based on operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must maintain applicable Kansas alcohol service license.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and outgoing personality.
- Extensive knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and cocktail preparation techniques.
- Comprehensive understanding of classic and modern cocktails, including ingredients and methods.
- Ability to confidently recommend beverage and food pairings.
- Knowledge of POS systems, basic math, and cash handling procedures.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of sanitation and food safety standards.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous bartending, mixology, serving, or high-volume customer service experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 5 hours or more).
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 40 pounds.
REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Closed-toe, non-canvas, non-slip shoes.
