What You'll Do
The Sr. Director, Business Owner Solutions is a senior, outward‑facing leader who drives marketplace demand, advisor engagement, and revenue growth for Principal Asset Management’s business owner solutions. This role sits at the intersection of business development, relationship management, solution positioning, and execution—partnering closely with Advanced Solutions and wholesalers across three business units to deepen engagement with key firms and financial professionals.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and execute the Business Owner Solutions strategy for Principal Asset Management, owning program goals, KPIs, and operating cadence
- Drive advisor adoption and revenue conversion by aligning business owner solutions to firm priorities and client outcomes
- Pro-actively identify, advance, and influence growth opportunities across Asset Management and broader Principal solutions
- Serve as a national, outward‑facing market leader—engaging advisors and firms through client meetings, presentations, events, and thought leadership
- Lead executive‑level conversations and program reviews, translating insights into action and accountability across internal teams
- Orchestrate cross‑business unit resources to deliver a unified advisor experience and scalable enterprise impact
- Translate complex planning concepts into compelling narratives that activate advisor demand and pipeline growth
- Promote training, webinars, conference sessions, and value‑add content (talk tracks, discovery tools, case studies) to support sustained engagement
This role is ideal for a strategic, entrepreneurial minded leader with strong market presence who can activate advisor demand, convert engagement into measurable AUM and revenue growth, and position Principal as a long‑term partner to financial professionals serving business owners.

Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree or 8 years of equivalent experience required; experience working with business solutions is preferred
- 8+ years’ experience in wealth management/distribution/retirement/advanced planning preferred.
- FINRA licensing required, including SIE or equivalent and Series 7 & Series 66 within 120 days.
- CEPA (Certified Exit Planning Advisor) designation preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with senior stakeholders across investment, product, and business functions to drive business development for Principal.
- Requires a balanced skill set including strong business development, organizational, strategic planning, leadership, people management, marketing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Must have excellent organizational and analytical skills, particularly in designing and implementing operational systems and sales processes(including technology applications).
- This role will require some US travel with overnight stays (25-40%).

Salary Range InformationSalary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range$141000 - $191000 / year
Time Off ProgramFlexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
