IT Support & Telecommunications Specialist
(Contract)
Location: Oakland, CA (on-site)
Sesheng Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Support & Telecommunications Specialist for a contract role in Oakland, CA. This role is essential for maintaining the robust technology infrastructure, providing exceptional technical support to employees, and ensuring the stability and security of the networking and telecommunications systems. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in desktop support, networking, and telecom administration, particularly within a regulated environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
IT and Desktop Support
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to internal and external clients consistently.
- Manage the full lifecycle of hardware and software, including the installation, configuration, and necessary upgrades (new networks, computers, mobile devices).
- Conduct hardware preventative maintenance and maintain an accurate, detailed inventory of all IT assets (hardware and software).
- Assist with user on/off-boarding processes and provide timely resolution for specialized hardware and software issues.
- Deliver coaching and training to end-users on standard software procedures.
- Review and manage daily help desk tickets, collaborating with the outsourced help desk vendor to facilitate and resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner.
- Perform basic internet and intranet site content updates.
Security, Compliance, and Auditing
- Ensure adherence to all network/computer security standards, maintaining security log files and assisting users with security functions.
- Coordinate periodic application user access reviews and audits to enforce authorized user access and compliance with registered software inventory.
- Assist in the preparation and remediation of documentation for IT audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
- Review daily patch and vulnerability management status, addressing patching issues, including system reboots, and working with vendors as required.
- Maintain strict control and confidentiality over all non-public customer information (in accordance with GLBA and other banking compliance regulations).
Telecommunications and Network Administration
- Execute Mobile Device Management (MDM) administration tasks, including smartphone review, policy management, and application management.
- Install and ensure proper operation of standard network/computer procedures (e.g., scheduled backups, anti-virus checks, disk storage optimization).
- Manage the IP telephone system, including adding, changing, or removing phone stations and administering advanced features like call pick-up groups and coverage paths.
- Assist in troubleshooting and correcting system failures for both voice and data users.
- Maintain a detailed inventory of telecommunication resources, including network maps, wiring maps, and station location documents.
- Analyze telecommunications system traffic data to assist in performance evaluation.
- Provide standby/on-call support after hours and on weekends for critical core system, network, and telecommunication trouble issues.
- Contribute to IT and business projects involving hardware testing, software support, and both WAN and LAN network-based activities.
