Job SummaryUnder minimal supervision the RN Manager for Ambulatory Clinical Compliance and Education works in collaboration with the Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Ambulatory Care Services and the Director of Patient Safety, Quality and Regulatory Compliance to design, implement, manage and promote quality patient care and safety within Denver Health Ambulatory Care Services (ACS). Plans, implements and coordinates ACS efforts to maintain compliance with Colorado State Rules, CMS Conditions of Participation, HRSA, and Joint Commision Standards. Works with local and executive clinical leadership to support and provide guidance for regulatory compliance, accreditation, patient safety and quality. Supervises ACS Clinical Nurse Educators and Medical Assistant Education Specialists. Represents ACS with other interdisciplinary departments, committees and workgroups internal to the organization, such as Emergency Management, Infection Prevention, Behavioral Health to ensure alignment of process and policy. Interacts with external regulatory bodies to prepare for site visits, manage compliance plans and responses, submit applications as data as required. Manage ACS reported events and investigations via Denver Health safety event tracking platform.
Essential Functions:
- General Operations: Conducts periodic reviews and/or audits to ensure that compliance procedures and requirements are followed. Designs and implements improvements in communication, education, monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards. Completes applications and documentation of required submissions such as Joint Commission Application, in a timely and accurate manner.Collaborates with ACNO, DON, CAMBO, DOS, NMs and PMs in ACS Nursing to develop and integrate the individual plans and strategies into division plan in collaboration with Department of Nursing, Patient Safety and Quality and in alignment with agency wide initiatives. (25%)
- Specific Major Functions:Prepare and analyze reports and special reports, as needed, detailing the professional, financial and administrative activities of Denver Health.Communicates hospital, organizational and departmental information to staff while providing effective support and information to clinic managers in areas of responsibility.Ensures that direct reports maintain current licensure, education requirements, certifications, competencies, and all other job requirements pertinent to assigned positions at all times.Completes and documents all information necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements including internal assessments.Organizes and plans details of audits and surveys, including command center, invitations, coordination of travel and communications during survey. (25%)
- Talent Management:Directly supervises ACS Nurse Education and MA Education personnel.Mentors, guides and coaches direct reports in order to expand their capabilities and participate actively in goal setting and accountability for outcomes. Recruits, hires, on boards, trains, counsels, manages corrective actions and evaluates the performance of direct reports. Ensures Direct reports maintain licensure, educational requirements, certifications competencies and all other job requirements as defined by job description and organizational directive. Conducts timely and accurate performance evaluations. Collaborates with CND, ACNO, DON and clinic managers to identify training and staff development needs. Supports planning and implementation of training through supervision on nursing education staff. Recognizes positive behavior and contributions of direct reports. (15%)
- Collaboration:Partners collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to problem solve interdepartmental and organizational issues.Ensures involvement at the organizational and unit-level regarding specific planning needs (i.e. more space, redesign, etc.).Facilitates interdisciplinary continuous quality improvement approaches; identifies actual/potential problems; utilizes innovative problem solving techniques; exhibits commitment to problem resolution and provides follow up.Collaborates pro actively with other departments and services to maximize effectiveness. (15%)
- Quality Review and Customer Orientation/Engagement:Assist with or oversee as assigned all regulatory reviews and preparation for review.Resolves operational and unforeseen procedural problems and address other concerns as directed.Ensures departmental standards and practices are consistent with nursing and agency philosophy and goals and in compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal accreditation regulations and national nursing standards.Participates with ACNO, CNE and Associate DONs and nursing managers to organize and facilitate nursing practice per American Nursing Association Standards. (15%)

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree BSN Nursing Required
Work Experience:
- 4-6 years Clinical Nursing Experience Required and
- 1-3 years Progressive leadership, nursing education, quality or other directly related experience. Required
Licenses:
- RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required and
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, CDC, HRSA, CMS, DPH, and CLIA Regulations.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate and perpetuate teamwork to achieve expected outcomes.
- Ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyze information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable solutions, question and evaluate solutions and work with teams to perform all of these functions.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Flexible and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in fast paced and changeable environment.
