UnionStone Construction Group is looking for the right person to join our field team as a Tech I.
This is an entry-level construction position, but we are not simply looking for someone to fill a labor position. We are looking for someone who wants to learn, work hard, improve, and build a future in the construction industry.
Experience is helpful, but it is not the most important thing we are looking for.
We care more about:
- Showing up on time and being dependable
- Working hard even when the work is difficult
- Being willing to learn and take direction
- Taking pride in the quality of your work
- Keeping jobsites clean and organized
- Respecting clients, coworkers, occupied properties, and the work itself
- Being accountable when mistakes happen
- Wanting to improve your skills and take on more responsibility
- Having a positive attitude and contributing to a strong team culture
A Tech I will work alongside more experienced team members and learn the fundamentals of professional construction operations.
Typical responsibilities may include jobsite setup and protection, demolition, cleanup, material handling, assisting technicians and trades, basic repairs, using hand and power tools, organizing tools and materials, preparing areas for upcoming work, and helping maintain a safe and professional jobsite.
We do residential and multifamily renovation, repair, maintenance, and improvement work throughout the San Diego area.
What we are looking for:
- You do not need to know everything.
- You do need to be motivated, dependable, hardworking, coachable, and willing to learn.
- The right person should be comfortable working physically throughout the day, lifting approximately 50 pounds, working around active construction environments, and traveling to different jobsites throughout San Diego County.
- Reliable transportation is required.
Compensation
$23–$25 per hour depending on experience, capabilities, and demonstrated performance.
This position is intended to be the beginning of a progression within UnionStone. Employees who consistently demonstrate reliability, initiative, quality, professionalism, and increased technical ability will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility and advance into higher-level field positions.
Our Culture
At UnionStone, we believe the work we do is a reflection of who we are.
We are building a company around accountability, professionalism, continuous improvement, teamwork, and execution.
We are not looking to hire as quickly as possible. We are looking to hire the right people.
Our hiring process may include an initial conversation, interview, and additional steps before an offer is made. We want candidates to understand who we are, and we want to make sure UnionStone is the right environment for them as well.
