Fabrication Technician
Job Summary
The Fabrication Technician supports the fabrication, assembly, finishing, preparation, and repair of custom décor, signage, fixtures, displays, branded environments, and project-based materials across multiple divisions and project types. This role works within a fast-paced production and fabrication environment where craftsmanship, communication, adaptability, accountability, and problem-solving are essential.
The Fabrication Technician collaborates closely with Production Teams, Project Managers, Operations, Leadership, and other departments to help ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, accurately, and in accordance with company standards and client expectations.
General Accountabilities
Fabrication, Assembly & Production Support
• Fabricate, assemble, repair, finish, package, and prepare décor, signage, fixtures, displays, and branded environments.
• Measure, cut, shape, sand, stain, paint, finish, and assemble materials using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Review and interpret layouts, drawings, elevations, proofs, measurements, work orders, material requirements, and fabrication instructions prior to beginning assigned production work.
• Verify materials, dimensions, quantities, finishes, hardware, and production details before beginning assigned work.
• Support custom builds, retail displays, remodels, rollouts, and project-based production needs.
• Prepare, organize, and stage materials, hardware, finishes, and production supplies to support accurate fabrication, efficient workflow, and successful project completion.
• Maintain strong attention to detail, accurate measurements, quality workmanship, and care throughout all phases of fabrication and assembly to reduce errors, rework, waste, and avoidable delays.
• Complete touch-ups, adjustments, repairs, labeling, packaging, staging, and final quality checks to ensure fabricated items are clean, accurate, properly finished, protected, and ready for delivery, installation, or next-stage production.
• Maintain organized work areas, tools, materials, and fabrication spaces.
Fabrication Specialties
There are several specialties within this position based on operational needs, project scopes, and departmental support requirements. Specialty areas may include: carpenters, welders, painters, finishers, assemblers, CNC/router support, and general fabrication support.
Employees may support multiple fabrication areas as operational needs evolve.
Communication, Documentation & Coordination
• Maintain timely communication and responsiveness with Production Teams, Project Managers, Leadership, Operations, and other departments regarding project progress, production needs, and operational updates.
• Use company communication and project platforms as required, including email, Microsoft Teams, phone, mobile applications, Trello, SharePoint, or other approved systems.
• Capture and upload organized project photos, fabrication updates, completion documentation, or operational records in accordance with company procedures.
• Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and proactively communicate missing information, material shortages/concerns, production conflicts, quality issues, or operational risks.
Equipment, Tools & Material Handling
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, sanders, routers, pneumatic tools, adhesives, paints, stains, solvents, welding equipment, and other fabrication-related tools, equipment, or materials as applicable.
• Safely move, load, unload, organize, and stage materials, finished products, and production supplies.
• Maintain accountability for assigned tools, equipment, and production materials.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report maintenance or repair concerns promptly.
• Assist with warehouse organization, inventory management, packaging, and operational support as needed.
Safety, Quality Control & Work Environment
• Follow all company safety policies, operational procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Maintain safe work practices while operating fabrication equipment and working within active production environments and in varying weather conditions.
• Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, cleanliness, and functionality.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings to minimize risk to employees, clients, products, and equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional production areas.
• Report accidents, injuries, equipment damage, or safety concerns immediately.
Team Collaboration & Operational Support
• Work collaboratively across departments to support successful project execution.
• Adapt to changing production priorities, timelines, workloads, and operational demands.
• Support multiple departments, team members, and operational needs as project scopes, timelines, and priorities evolve.

Travel & Scheduling Standards
• Maintain flexibility to work overtime, early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and adjusted schedules based on business needs, project timelines, and operational priorities.
• Support changing schedules and project timelines in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Travel as needed for project support, installations, warehouse operations, pickups, deliveries, and fabrication-related assignments across job sites, company locations, and project locations based on business needs and project demands.

Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of fabrication, woodworking, production, carpentry, signage, trades, or related experience preferred.
• Experience working in fast-paced fabrication, production, warehouse, field-support, or related operational environments with changing priorities, project timelines, and occasional travel preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
• Experience driving larger vehicles, such as high-roof transit vans, and operating forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, or similar equipment preferred.
• Experience operating hand tools, power tools, saws, sanders, pneumatic tools, or fabrication equipment preferred.
• OSHA certification, forklift certification, or other safety certifications preferred.
• Ability to read tape measures, layouts, elevations, diagrams, blueprints, proofs, and fabrication instructions.
• Basic proficiency with smartphones, email, Microsoft Teams, and digital communication platforms preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional heavier lifting assisted by equipment or team lifting.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Must be comfortable working at heights, including ladders, lifts, rooftops, and elevated platforms.
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors, within fabrication shops, warehouses, production facilities, construction sites, and other operational environments, with varying temperatures and potential exposure to noise, dust, heavy equipment, and changing site conditions.
• Position may require extended periods of standing, repetitive movement, physically demanding fabrication work, material handling, and adjusted schedules based on production demands.
• Position may support deliveries, installations, operational travel, or adjusted schedules based on project demands.
