Senior CNC Programmer

Tachyon Manufacturing is looking for an experienced programmer to join our growing precision machining team. We specialize in high-precision prototype and production machining for the aerospace and defense industries.
We are looking for someone who can take a job from print to finished part with minimal supervision, including programming, setup, tooling selection, troubleshooting, and first-piece prove-out.
Responsibilities
* Program CNC mills using Mastercam
* Program and set up 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills
* Take jobs from blueprint/model through programming, setup, and first-piece completion
* Develop efficient machining strategies and improve cycle times
* Select cutting tools, holders, workholding, speeds, and feeds
* Design and implement fixtures when required
* Set up and prove out new programs at the machine
* Troubleshoot machining, tooling, workholding, and program issues
* Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes
* Work with inspection/quality personnel to ensure parts meet drawing requirements
* Optimize existing programs and manufacturing processes
* Assist and mentor less-experienced machinists and operators
* Maintain an organized and safe work area
Requirements
* 5+ years CNC programming and machining experience
* Strong Mastercam programming experience
* Experience with Haas CNC mills
* Experience with 3-axis and 5-axis machining
* Ability to independently set up and prove out CNC programs
* Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings
* Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, plastics, and other engineered materials
* Strong knowledge of tooling, speeds and feeds, workholding, and machining practices
* Ability to troubleshoot problems without constant supervision
* Experience holding tight tolerances on precision components
Preferred Experience
* Aerospace and defense machining
* AS9100 manufacturing environment
* Prototype and low-volume/high-mix machining
* Haas UMC 5-axis machines
* Fixture design
* First Article Inspection (FAI) / AS9102
* CMM and inspection equipment familiarity
Compensation
**$35–$45/hour**, depending on experience and programming ability.
Schedule
Full-time, flexible

This is a senior-level position, not an operator-only role. The ideal candidate is comfortable receiving a drawing and solid model, determining the machining strategy, programming the job, setting up the machine, and producing a conforming first article.
