JB General Engineering Development Inc. is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented Part-Time Architectural Designer / Drafter to join our team in Santa Ana, CA.
We are looking for someone who knows architectural drafting and knows it well. This is a working position supporting active residential design and construction projects. The successful candidate will be expected to produce accurate, professional-quality drawings and contribute to projects with limited supervision.
This is not a training position for someone starting from scratch.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Architectural Designer / Drafter will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and development of residential construction documents, including:
Drafting detailed residential architectural plans
Creating and modifying floor plans, elevations, sections, and details
Preparing architectural schematics and construction drawings
Developing residential site plans
Drafting plans for remodels, additions, new construction, and ADUs
Producing and revising drawings using AutoCAD
Assisting with Autodesk Revit modeling and documentation
Developing existing-condition drawings from field measurements, scans, and project information
Interpreting sketches, measurements, specifications, and design direction
Incorporating revisions accurately and efficiently
Maintaining proper dimensions, annotations, layouts, and drawing standards
Coordinating architectural drawings with engineering and construction requirements
Supporting multiple active projects and meeting project deadlines
Communicating with the project team regarding drawing requirements, revisions, and technical issues
REQUIRED SKILLS
Strong AutoCAD knowledge is required.
We are looking for someone with hard technical knowledge and demonstrated drafting ability.
You should already be capable of producing architectural drawings accurately and efficiently.
Required skills include:
Advanced or strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
Strong understanding of residential architectural drafting
Ability to independently produce and modify architectural plans
Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
Understanding of floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and site plans
Understanding of dimensions, scale, annotations, layers, line weights, and drawing organization
Ability to interpret project information and translate it into accurate drawings
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong problem-solving ability
Ability to work independently and take direction
Ability to meet deadlines and manage assigned work
Professional communication and dependable work habits
AUTODESK REVIT
Revit experience is highly preferred.
Applicants should have practical experience using Revit for architectural modeling and documentation. Revit coursework may be considered, but applicants must still possess the underlying technical skills necessary to perform the work.
STUDENTS ARE WELCOME
Students currently studying architecture, architectural drafting, engineering, construction, or a related field are welcome to apply.
However, being enrolled in school is not a substitute for experience or technical ability.
You must already know the fundamentals and be able to demonstrate that you can perform the work.
We are looking for someone who can contribute to real projects, not someone looking for an opportunity to learn the basics of AutoCAD while on the clock.
