POSITION SUMMARY:
The Jr Estimator provides critical foundational support to our estimator team and project management team by gathering project data, conducting preliminary material takeoffs, organizing bid documents, proposals, submittals, purchase orders, rfi’s, vendor pricing and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors. This detail-heavy role is essential for ensuring our proposals are highly accurate, submitted on time, and structured to win competitive bids.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Bid Document Management: Gather, download, and systematically organize project blueprints, specifications, and Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation.
• Quantity Takeoffs: Read digital or physical construction plans to measure and calculate precise quantities of materials (e.g., concrete, steel, finishes) required for projects.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Distribute bid packages to subcontractors, track incoming pricing quotes, and compile vendor data into comparison spreadsheets.
• Database Maintenance: Update and maintain internal cost databases, labor rate files, and supplier price catalogs to ensure pricing accuracy across the team.
• Discrepancy Identification: Review project documents line-by-line to flag missing information, conflicting measurements, or scheduling anomalies before final submissions.
• Administrative Support: Schedule bid-review meetings, compile finalized estimate numbers into polished client proposals, and file post-project documentation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in an administrative or supportive role within construction, or a related field (prior experience in basic blueprint reading or takeoffs is highly preferred).
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially advanced Excel) and an aptitude for learning specialized estimation/takeoff software.
• Core Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail, strong basic math skills, excellent time management, and the ability to work under strict bid deadlines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Setting: Primarily a desk-based office environment.
• Travel: Occasional travel to active project sites or local vendor offices may be required.
