Louisiana Purchase is seeking an experienced Head Server / Shift Lead to join our front-of-house team.
This is a hands-on, hourly position combining serving responsibilities with shift-lead duties. The ideal candidate is a strong, experienced server who leads by example, understands high-volume restaurant operations, and can help keep the floor organized and service running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Provide knowledgeable, attentive, and efficient service to guests during scheduled serving shifts
Serve as a designated FOH shift lead when assigned
Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate service priorities, specials, reservations, and operational updates
Help coordinate the flow of service between servers, bartenders, hosts, support staff, and the kitchen
Support the FOH team during high-volume periods and help maintain service standards
Assist with guest concerns and escalate significant issues to management when appropriate
Support opening and closing procedures and verify completion of assigned side work
Assist with training and onboarding new FOH employees
Provide real-time coaching and service-related feedback to team members
Help maintain restaurant cleanliness, organization, and readiness throughout service
Follow and reinforce company policies and established service procedures
Follow all applicable food-safety and responsible alcohol-service requirements
Accurately use the restaurant's POS system and follow established cash-handling procedures
Communicate staffing, operational, maintenance, and guest-service concerns to management
Perform other reasonable duties consistent with the position as business needs require
Qualifications
Previous serving experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant
Lead server, trainer, shift lead, or similar leadership experience preferred
Strong knowledge of front-of-house restaurant operations
Ability to remain organized and composed during high-volume service
Strong communication and guest-resolution skills
Ability to provide direction and support to coworkers while maintaining a team-oriented environment
Experience with restaurant POS and cash-handling systems
Knowledge of food safety and responsible alcohol service
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
Must meet all applicable legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages
Position Structure
This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
The Head Server / Shift Lead remains an active member of the front-of-house service team while providing additional shift-level leadership and operational support.
This position does not independently hire, terminate, discipline, or make final employment decisions regarding other employees. Employment-related decisions are handled by restaurant management.
Compensation, overtime, meal and rest periods, and gratuities will be administered in accordance with applicable California and local law and company policy.

The right person is an experienced server who naturally helps organize the team, communicates well with the kitchen and bar, handles guest situations professionally, and helps maintain a strong standard of service throughout the shift.
