Part-Time Shop Associate

The Household Company is a small, independently owned home and garden shop in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe. We carry a thoughtful mix of household goods, garden wares, antiques, linens, seasonal pieces and other things we love for the home.
We’re looking for a warm, reliable person to join us part-time, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position. This would be a great fit for someone who genuinely enjoys beautiful things, has an eye for presentation, and likes creating a welcoming experience for customers.
Because we are a small shop, the role is a little bit of everything. You might be helping a customer choose a gift, wrapping a purchase, rearranging a shelf, tagging new antiques, receiving inventory or taking a quick photo for Instagram.
What you'll be doing
Welcoming customers and helping them with purchases and product questions
Ringing up sales using our Shopify POS system
Keeping the shop tidy, stocked and beautifully presented
Unpacking, pricing and tagging new merchandise
Helping with inventory counts and restocking
Answering occasional phone calls and customer questions
Helping photograph products and create simple social media posts
Assisting with seasonal displays and merchandising
We'd love to find someone who
Is warm, personable and comfortable talking with customers
Has a genuine interest in interiors, antiques, homewares, gardening or retail
Has a good eye and enjoys making things look beautiful
Is organized, dependable and comfortable working independently
Has previous retail experience (preferred, but not essential for the right person)
Is comfortable learning Shopify POS and basic retail systems
Can be on their feet throughout a shift and occasionally lift or move boxes and merchandise
An appreciation for English and European interiors, traditional homewares, antiques and garden style would be especially at home here.
Hours
Friday & Saturday: 10am–4pm
Tuesday afternoon: ideally available, but we can be somewhat flexible
This is initially a part-time temporary position with the opportunity to become permanent if it feels like a good fit on both sides.
We’re a very small business, so we’re really looking for someone who enjoys the shop, connects naturally with our customers and is happy to pitch in wherever needed.
