Experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
Pay: $30–$37 per hour, based on experience

RJ Machine is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to join our team. We are looking for a skilled, dependable machinist who can independently set up CNC lathes, troubleshoot machining issues, and consistently produce high-quality precision parts.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, understands the importance of efficient setups and quality workmanship, and works well in a team-oriented machine shop environment.
Responsibilities
Independently set up and operate CNC lathes.
Read and interpret blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
Set tools, touch off tooling, and establish tool and work offsets.
Load programs and make necessary program edits at the machine.
Read and understand G-code.
Set up and make adjustments using Fanuc controls.
Select and install proper cutting tools for each operation.
Identify tool wear and make adjustments or replace tooling as necessary.
Produce precision machined parts to print, including tolerances as tight as ±.001".
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
Troubleshoot tooling, dimensional, and machining issues.
Make necessary offsets and adjustments to maintain part quality throughout production.
Complete setups efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and shop policies.
Maintain machines and keep the work area clean and organized.
Work cooperatively with programmers, machinists, QC personnel, and department management.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and remain standing for the majority of the shift.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of CNC lathe setup experience preferred.
Must be able to independently set up CNC lathes from start to first good part.
Strong knowledge of tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
Experience with Fanuc controls strongly preferred.
Ability to read and understand G-code and make program edits at the machine.
Strong blueprint-reading skills.
Proficient with standard precision measuring and inspection equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling problems without constant supervision.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
Ability to work efficiently and complete setups within reasonable expected setup times.
Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
