Starting Pay: $30–38 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated ability.
The position is expected to begin on a part-time basis, with the opportunity for additional hours and responsibilities based on your initiative, abilities, and contribution to the company.
We are a small residential and commercial design and construction company specializing in landscape design, architectural design, and construction. We are looking for a creative, dependable individual who enjoys both design and hands-on construction and is interested in growing with our company over the long term.
This position is ideal for someone pursuing or who has completed coursework in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Construction Technology, Horticulture, or a related field and wants to gain experience from concept through construction.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
- Valid California driver's license
- Reliable transportation (pickup truck preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit preferred
- Ability to read architectural and landscape plans
- Professional communication skills
- Prompt communication by text and email
- Humble, dependable, and willing to continue learning
Preferred Experience
Experience in several of the following areas is preferred. We do not expect applicants to be experts in every category. Basic framing and basic electrical experience are a significant plus. We value individuals who are resourceful, willing to continue learning, and who know how to find reliable information when they don't have the answer.
- Landscape construction
- Site grading and finish grading
- Understanding elevations, slopes, drainage, and soil compaction
- Concrete forms
- Basic masonry
- Basic framing
- Irrigation systems, valves, and controllers
- Low-voltage landscape lighting
- Basic electrical
- Reading construction documents
- Estimating
- Construction coordination
Responsibilities
Depending on your experience and abilities, responsibilities may include:
- Landscape and architectural design
- AutoCAD and Revit drafting
- Hand sketches and conceptual drawings
- Site measurements
- Preparing estimates and presentations
- Meeting with clients and presenting design concepts
- Door-to-door marketing and business development
- Learning and incorporating AI-assisted visualization and rendering tools into the design process
- Reviewing plans and assisting with project coordination
- Helping ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the plans, design intent, and company standards
Design, Office & Field Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with our company.
Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, including drafting, design development, estimating, presentation preparation, and CAD production. Other responsibilities require working on the jobsite, performing physical construction work, meeting with clients, directing field operations when appropriate, or working independently to complete assigned tasks.
Depending on the project, you may work remotely, independently, or alongside other team members. There will be days when you are expected to perform physical work in the field. No one on our team is too good to pick up a shovel.
Our goal is to ensure every project is completed in accordance with the plans so the company's standards and the original design intent are carried through from concept to construction.
