Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Junior Big Data Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field to join our data engineering team. The ideal candidate will assist in building, maintaining, and optimizing scalable big data pipelines and distributed data processing systems to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines for processing large datasets
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) tasks
- Write efficient and optimized queries for large-scale data processing
- Monitor data workflows and troubleshoot pipeline failures
- Support batch and real-time data processing systems
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to deliver data solutions
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across systems
- Optimize data storage and processing performance
- Document technical workflows, processes, and system architecture
- Assist in deploying and maintaining cloud-based data infrastructure
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database concepts
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, and Apache Kafka
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Understanding of distributed systems and parallel data processing
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
- Knowledge of version control tools like Git
- Basic understanding of workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
