Position Summary
The Scientist 1, In Vitro role works closely with colleagues within the Biology, Chemistry, and Preclinical Development teams to evaluate new drug modalities by performing mechanistic studies and participate in discovery and translational efforts aimed at identifying and characterizing novel targeted therapeutic targets. This role works in a dynamic environment to help advance programs from discovery into development, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
These may include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain multiple cell lines independently.
- Implement excellent aseptic technique required for primary cell culture.
- Design, optimize, and validate pharmacology assays.
- Perform, analyze, and interpret assays independently.
- Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Write standard operating protocols.
- Participate in cross-functional drug discovery teams and interact with cross-functional groups effectively.
- Provide guidance and training to junior scientists.
- Interpret and present data and findings to cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Support the organization in maintaining a work environment focused on scientific integrity and quality, and one that fosters learning, open communication, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required
Education and Experience:
- Ph.D. in Biology, Behavioral Pharmacology, Physiology, Neuroscience, or related discipline with research experience in disease-related biology. Applicants with BS or MS degrees may apply but must demonstrate a minimum of 8 to 10 years of significant and relevant experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
- Strong cell culture expertise with proven experience in cell line development
- Experience with basic molecular biology techniques using DNA, RNA, and protein.
- Strong knowledge of molecular biology techniques to support cell line generation.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organization and record-keeping skills.
- Capable of working both independently with minimal oversight and in a collaborative environment.
- Outstanding written and oral presentation capabilities,
- Software knowledge in Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams), GraphPad Prism, among others as required.
Preferred
- Experience in RNAi (siRNA, miRNA, ASOs) design and delivery.
- Experience in developing cancer, immunology, in vitro cell-based assays
Physical Demands And Work Environment
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $106,000 - $132,000.
In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match.
