WHERE YOU CONTRIBUTE
The District Manager leads a portfolio of stores to deliver a consumer first, premium retail experience that drives profitable growth. In partnership with your Regional Manager(s), this position will translate centrally defined consumer experience frameworks and guardrails into local execution, raising conversion, full‑price sell‑through, and loyalty across a district while right‑sizing labor, optimizing inventory flow, and elevating brand storytelling in every store. This work advances Dr. Martens’ strategic focus on engaging more consumers, increasing purchase frequency, and lead to a premium direct‑to‑consumer (DTC) experience, with a specific emphasis on improving full‑price mix, reducing markdown dependency, and executing tiered store formats consistently.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- District commercial performance. Deliver revenue, gross margin, four‑wall profitability and CDP targets across your stores. Monitor and act on conversion, footfall, units per transaction, ASP, NPS and full‑price vs. markdown mix using company reporting tools.
- Consumer experience excellence. Execute centrally defined retail experience standards, service levels, tone of voice, omnichannel processes, and post‑purchase experience, to ensure consistent premium execution across all stores.
- Retail estate & format execution. Operate stores in line with the tiered retail model (flagship, street, mall, outlet, pop‑up) while elevating visual merchandising and storytelling to support brand equity and full‑price performance.
- Inventory flow & allocation partnership. Partner with Market Demand Planning and Retail Allocators to ensure the right product is in the right stores, reduce aged/obsolete stock, and improve inventory turn.
- People leadership & capability building. Hire, coach, and develop Store Managers and store teams. Ensure training, SOPs, and capability frameworks are embedded consistently across all stores in the district.
- Operational excellence & risk management. Uphold operational standards, labor efficiency, loss prevention, safety/compliance, and inventory controls.
- Rhythm of the business. Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly KPI reviews. Share insights, deliver action plans, and support market‑level planning cycles.
- Cross‑functional collaboration. Work with Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Allocations, HR Business Partners, and Finance to align actions with centrally defined frameworks.
