About Empo
Empo is the fastest-growing city discovery platform — used by tens of thousands of Gen Z consumers every day to decide where to go, what to do, and where to spend money. Through our consumer app, our premium business product (Empo+), and our partnerships with the city's best creators, we're redefining how the next generation moves through cities. We're scaling fast across the U.S., and how we show up on social is becoming one of our biggest growth levers.
The Role
We're hiring a Content & Social Coordinator to be the person who actually makes Empo's content — every day, across every channel. This is a hands-on production role. You'll shoot, design, edit, post, and respond, with direct support from the CEO and full ownership of how Empo looks and feels across Instagram, TikTok, and beyond.
If you live on social, have a genuinely modern eye, and want to build a brand people actually pay attention to — this is the seat.
What You'll Actually Do
- Make content, every day. Shoot original photo and video on your phone. Design graphics, posters, posts, and stories. Edit Reels and TikToks. Write captions that match the visuals.
- Run our channels. Own the day-to-day on Instagram and TikTok — schedule posts, reply to DMs and comments, keep the rhythm alive.
- Capture the city. Get out to venues, events, partner spots, and creator collabs. Document what's happening in Chicago (and the cities we're expanding into) so it shows up on our feed before anyone else covers it.
- Build the visual identity in real time. Develop our look as you go — type, color, treatments, references. We have a brand foundation; you'll bring it to life.
- Move fast. Same-day turnarounds are normal here. You'll ship more in a week than most people ship in a month.
- Stay on top of culture. Know what's working on social right now, what trends matter, what feels dated. We need someone who genuinely consumes and understands 2026 social media — not someone running 2022 playbooks.
Who You Are
- A maker, not a strategist. You'd rather spend your day shooting, designing, and posting than building decks or attending alignment meetings. Strategy will come later as you grow into it.
- You have real visual taste. Your personal feed, your camera roll, the brands you follow — they tell the story. You can tell the difference between a great post and a generic one in three seconds.
- You shoot. You're comfortable pulling out your phone and getting the shot, whether it's a venue, a meal, a crowd, or a behind-the-scenes moment.
- You design. You're fluent in Figma, Photoshop, Canva — whatever gets the job done. Your work doesn't look like a template.
- You edit video. CapCut, Premiere, InShot — you can cut a Reel that holds attention.
- You write like a human. Captions, hooks, replies. Sharp, fast, on-brand.
- You're hungry. You want to grow. You ship things, you don't sit on them. You take feedback fast and iterate faster.
Nice to Have
- Experience running an actual brand's Instagram or TikTok end-to-end (not just contributing posts)
- A background or strong interest in nightlife, dining, hospitality, or the creator economy
- A personal Instagram, TikTok, or photo project that shows your eye
Why This Role Matters
Empo is entering the stage where how we show up shapes how fast we grow. The right person in this seat will define the public-facing version of a company scaling nationally — with direct CEO access and a clear path to grow into bigger brand and creative ownership over time. This is the kind of scope most coordinator-level roles never get close to.
