Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role in New York, NY, designed for individuals inspired to contribute to the mission and vision of the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care. Responsibilities can encompass a variety of tasks depending on expertise, such as supporting contemplative education initiatives, assisting in community programs, and facilitating compassionate care for individuals facing sickness, aging, and end-of-life experiences. Team collaboration, event coordination, and meaningful engagement with the community will also form crucial aspects of this role. The center encourages participation in its meditative practices and programs as part of integrating contemplative principles into professional and personal development.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build compassionate relationships and collaborate within a close-knit team
- Experience in program coordination, event planning, or administrative tasks, particularly in a nonprofit or community-focused setting
- Familiarity with or an interest in contemplative practices, meditation, or Zen principles and teachings
- Ability to approach caregiving, community service, or educational support with empathy, mindfulness, and a patient-centered mindset
- Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Willingness to work on-site in New York, NY, and actively engage in the center's mission and activities
- Experience in palliative care, spiritual care, or related fields is a valuable asset
