Project Manager, Preconstruction / Front-End Focus
Location: New York City
Salary: $175,000-$225,000 per year
A well-established New York City general contractor is looking to bring in a Project Manager with strong exposure to the front end of projects, particularly across preconstruction, design-phase coordination and early-stage planning.
This is not a typical site-focused PM role. Instead, the position is geared toward individuals who have been heavily involved during the SD/DD phases, working alongside clients and design teams to help shape project strategy, budgets and overall delivery approach.
The firm has a strong pipeline of commercial and healthcare projects, and is particularly interested in candidates who have worked on large-scale, phased or operationally sensitive environments (infrastructure or complex institutional experience is highly relevant).
The Role
- Support projects from early concept through design development and into GMP
- Work closely with clients, architects and consultants during preconstruction
- Contribute to budget development, cost planning and overall project strategy
- Provide input on constructability, phasing, logistics and sequencing
- Help bridge the gap between preconstruction and project execution teams
- Be involved in presentations, planning and front-end decision making
Experience Required
- 6–12+ years’ experience within a GC or CM environment
- Background as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager
- Experience on complex, phased or operational projects (aviation, infrastructure, healthcare, institutional)
- Exposure to preconstruction and early-stage project planning
- Comfortable working alongside design teams and clients during early phases
- Strong understanding of project delivery, cost drivers and constructability
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $175,000-$225,000 (flexible depending on experience)
