The Role
The
IT Desktop Support Specialist is a key contributor in keeping our healthcare communities connected, secure, and productive. This is
not an entry‑level role—we’re looking for an experienced IT professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, taking ownership, and solving real problems in dynamic environments.
You’ll combine
hands‑on infrastructure projects,
escalated deskside support, and
statewide travel, working closely with internal partners to modernize and stabilize technology across our communities.
This position is based in
the Houston, TX area and requires travel of up to
50% throughout the state.
What You’ll Do
Primary Responsibilities - Execute planned replacement, configuration, and deployment of:
- Servers, network switches, and other critical infrastructure
- Desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
- Coordinate and perform on‑site technology upgrades with minimal disruption to care teams and operations
- Conduct equipment audits and identify gaps where technology standards are not being met
- Partner with internal IT and business teams to maintain a secure, reliable, and standardized IT environment
Secondary Responsibilities - Serve as Level 2 deskside support, resolving escalated issues beyond Level 1
- Act as a technical resource for statewide initiatives, including:
- Data migrations and system upgrades
- Vulnerability remediation and security improvements
- User onboarding to SSO and MFA standards
- Remote and on‑site support for distributed teams
On‑Call & Travel Expectations
- Participate in an on‑call rotation for emergency escalations (e.g., network outages affecting a community)
- Availability for occasional after‑hours and weekend support when critical issues arise
- Travel up to 50% across Texas, including areas such as McAllen, Laredo, San Antonio, Killeen, and beyond (travel expenses covered or reimbursed)
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of hands‑on IT support experience in a moderately complex environment (healthcare experience is a plus)
- Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- High attention to detail with excellent organization and follow‑through
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
- Comfort working in healthcare environments involving PHI and HIPAA compliance
Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred (or equivalent real‑world experience)
- Technical Experience:
- IT infrastructure projects and hardware lifecycle management
- Networking fundamentals, server administration, and security best practices
- Deskside support for complex technical issues
- Familiarity with tools such as RMM, BDR, Active Directory, and Entra
- Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds (servers, desktops, networking equipment, etc.)
