Employment Type: W-2 Full-Time Employee
Compensation: Based on experience
The Position
This is a full-time, W-2 position on the front line of our customer experience. When someone calls Tradesman Electric, you are the first voice they hear. That matters more than most people realize. This is not a position for someone who views answering phones as a task to get through. We are looking for someone who genuinely loves people, loves solving problems, and understands that every call is an opportunity to make a customer feel like they are in good hands.
Your day will include answering inbound calls, booking appointments, gathering detailed information about the customer's electrical needs, entering job data accurately into our CRM (Housecall Pro) and project management system (Monday.com), and routing the right calls to the right people. When things get technical, you connect the customer with one of our technicians or our sales team. You do not need to know everything. You need to know how to get the customer to the right person quickly and make them feel great in the process.
There will also be downtime. We need someone who does not disappear when the phones go quiet. A self-starter who scans for what is needed, shifts gears without being asked, and keeps productivity moving even when the pace slows.
Who We Are
The Tradesman Electric, Inc. has been one of Orange County's most trusted electrical contractors since 1991. We operate two divisions: our HOA Division, which handles large-scale panel replacement programs for HOA communities and has dedicated staff running that operation, and our Residential Division, which serves individual homeowners with panels, lighting, dedicated circuits, ceiling fans, and a full range of electrical services. This position supports the Residential Division exclusively. We are a growing company with a crew that operates like a family and a team that holds itself to a high standard every single day.
We only have an A-Team. We do not have a B team. Our office is fast-paced, functional, and focused. We have fun together, but we are highly task-oriented and take our work seriously. If you are the kind of person who thrives in that environment, you are going to love it here.
What This Role Actually Looks Like
A few things worth knowing before you apply:
1. Some days, the phones are ringing off the hook. Other days, there is room to breathe. You need to handle both with the same level of professionalism and energy.
2. This role includes some light sales. If a customer calls looking for a quote on electrical work, you will handle the intake, gather the details, and route them to the appropriate person. You are not expected to be a closer, but you do need to keep the conversation moving in the right direction.
3. Accurate note-taking is not optional. The information you capture on a call is what the technician or salesperson works from. If your notes are vague or incomplete, it creates problems in the field. We will train you on exactly what to ask. Your job is to apply that training consistently.
4. You will work across multiple platforms: Housecall Pro, Monday.com, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. You do not need to be an Excel power user. You do need to be comfortable learning new software quickly and navigating digital systems without hand-holding.
What We Are Looking For
No electrical contracting experience is required, though it is a meaningful advantage. What we cannot train is character. Here is what we need you to bring on day one:
- A genuine love for people. Not a customer service script, but a real desire to help someone who has a problem and needs a solution.
- Outstanding phone presence. Warm, clear, confident, and professional. People should feel better after talking to you than before.
- Natural organization. We are not looking for someone who is trying to be organized. We are looking for someone who was built that way. I's dotted and T's crossed are a non-negotiable here.
- Quick learner with a can-do spirit. You do not need to know everything on day one. You need to absorb information fast, ask good questions, and apply what you learn without being reminded twice.
- Humility and Coachability. You take correction well, do not take feedback personally, and understand that getting better is part of the job.
- Thorough communication. In writing, on the phone, and in your notes. Vague does not work here.
- Composure under pressure. When the phones are stacked and the office is moving fast, you stay calm and keep things moving.
- Reliability and Punctuality. The team depends on you being in your seat, ready to go, when the day starts.
- Strong Plus: Experience answering phones for a contractor, home services company, or trade business. If you already understand how contractors operate and what customers in that world need, you are a step ahead.
A Direct Word Before You Apply
This position is more important to our customer experience than most people expect from a CSR role. The way you represent this company on the phone sets the tone for everything that follows. We take that seriously, and we need someone who does too.
If you are part of the Tradesman family, we will treat you like family. We invest in our people, we develop our people, and we promote from within. But this is also a business. High standards are the entry point, not the finish line.
How to Apply
We do not hire based on a resume alone. If you want to join our team, here is what to do:
1. Visit www.tradesmanelectric.com and fill out the employment application
2. Include a resume and a brief note about your customer service background and why this kind of role is a natural fit for you.
3. References from previous employers will be required.
We are growing, and we are building the team that grows with us. If you are organized, people-focused, and ready to be part of something excellent, we want to hear from you.
