Job Description
Responsible for evaluating the feasibility of potential construction projects, preparing accurate cost estimates and bids, and ensuring client expectations are met from bid through contract award. Builds and maintains strong client relationships to secure bid awards and generate new business opportunities for Kendell.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and related documents to prepare timely and accurate material and labor estimates.
- Communicate with contractors, architects, and vendors to clarify project details and ensure competitive, complete bids.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and manufacturer pricing to determine best price-value and acceptable gross profit margins.
- Calculate overhead, markups, and discounts; ensure compliance with all bid documentation and addendums.
- Submit complete and accurate bids for internal review and client delivery by required deadlines.
- Track and follow up on pending bids, providing updates and clarifications as needed.
- Collaborate with Business Development on strategic bids and pricing approaches.
- When projects are awarded:
- Verify contracts against estimates and resolve discrepancies.
- Complete bid summaries and documentation for Finance and Operations.
- Participate in project handoff or kickoff meetings as appropriate.
- When projects are lost:
- Record results and debrief with Sales Manager and Business Development to refine future strategies.
- Prepare and manage design-build bids from concept through contract award.
- Maintain professional knowledge through industry training and workshops.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Minimum 2-5 years of estimating or construction-related experience; technical sales experience a plus.
- Knowledge of government, multi-family, and large commercial projects; experience with Divisions D8 and D10.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in estimating and office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Professional demeanor, initiative, and strong customer relationship skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Solid math and problem-solving abilities.

Salary: $80,000-$100,000 DOE
