DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Develops, designs, implements, and manages the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology's (DLMP) financial reporting and budgeting activities. DLMP encompasses three divisions which include Laboratory Medicine, Pathology, and Grants. This role will provide comprehensive financial performance reporting across all DLMP divisions.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for delivering financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision support for the department. This role involves preparing detailed financial reports, conducting in-depth analyses, and contributing to both the development and execution of strategic initiatives and improvements.
The person in this position will lead key budgeting and reporting processes, including but not limited to: the annual School of Medicine and UWP budget cycles, the Faculty Funding process, and monthly departmental-wide reporting.
The Sr. Financial Analyst advises senior leadership by reporting financial results, conducting risk assessments, and recommending operational improvements and training to ensure compliance with the University and federal regulations.
This position carries a broad scope of responsibilities, including financial management for the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP), oversight and execution of special projects, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. It also serves as a lead and key resource for fiscal support staff, particularly during periods of transition. Additional duties include operational assessments and conducting reviews focused on revenue enhancement and cost reduction.

Recharge center rate setting management
Financial commitments management
Finance team operations and special projects
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance / Accounting (or equivalent experience). And nine plus years of demonstrated experience in financial or accounting operations, budgeting and financial analysis.
Experience with the University of Washington financial accounting systems including Workday, policies and procedures.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity.
Excellent judgement, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to work on large, complex projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to interpret, document and communicate complex policies and procedures in a consumable manner.
Proven track record in exercising discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making processes.
