The Details:Location: Hybrid work Headquartered in Downtown Seattle, remote work possible from AZ, CA, CO, ID, IL, FL, OR, TN, VA, WA.
Work Schedule: Our typical business hours are 8:30-5:00 PT Monday-Friday.

About the Position:Reporting to the Director of Information Security, the Security Operations Specialist supports the organization's efforts to detect, respond to, and investigate security threats and incidents. The Specialist helps ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and data across departments. The Specialist will also support internal inquiries into potential misconduct. This position will utilize their robust technical skills and use sound judgment to collaborate across departments to support a secure and compliant IT environment. The Specialist will occasionally support internal inquiries and data collection efforts related to organizational needs.
You Will:- Monitor security systems, applications and networks to identify unusual activity, vulnerabilities or potential security incidents;
- Work with the Information Security team to understand the cause of anomalies to help prevent future occurrences and identify, assess and mitigate security threats in real-time;
- Assist in investigations of security incidents, in collaborating with stakeholders, to report breaches or misconduct, to enhance security controls and incident response;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support security operations and providing technical support and resolve security issues;
- Participate in security audits to identify vulnerabilities before they can be exploited and assist in preparing and reviewing audit data;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge about the latest cyber threats, including new phishing attempts and hacking tools;
- Effectively operate within the security infrastructure and tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems and SIEM platforms to monitor and secure the network;
- Ensure minimal downtime of critical infrastructure during security incidents and proactively notify stakeholders about serious security events and mitigate risks;
- Offer technical support and guidance to other departments and ensure clear communication and coordinated response during security incidents;
- Support compliance with government, corporate, state and industry regulations by auditing systems and generating required reports;
- From time-to-time, perform other duties commensurate with the level of this position.
You Will Need to Have:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, a related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of education;
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, Certified SOC Specialist (CSA), EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker, GSEC, GCIH, GCIA, CISSP or SSCP;
- 1-3+ Years of experience with various security monitoring and analysis tools;
- 1+ years of experience with ethical hacking, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing;
- 1+ Years of analyzing logs from tools such as, Control Tower, Splunk or Microsoft Defender;
- Knowledge of incident response procedures and practices;
- Proficient in intrusion detection, incident response and risk management;
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, network services, and server/workstation security;
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native security tools;
- Familiarity with common security platforms (antivirus, encryption, two-factor authentication, etc.);
- Ability to operate and manage security tools such as firewalls, SIEM and forensic tools;
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills especially to non-technical audiences;
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams;
- Customer service orientation with a focus on first call resolution, ensuring prompt and effective handling of security-related issues, especially in high-stakes environments involving sensitive data and compliance-driven systems.
It Will Be Great if You Have:- Experience in Non-Profits;
- Familiarity with Incident response automation tools (e.g., SORA platforms);
- 1-3+ Years of experience in a security operations center (SOC) or similar role is highly desirable;
- Proficiency with Linux, TCP/IP, UNIX, NT and IP routing;
- Understanding of regular expressions, database structures and queries;
- Knowledge of NDIS platforms, network vulnerabilities and attacks.
