We’re a growing startup seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Lab Technician with at least 1 year of hands-on laboratory testing experience (must know how to operate HPLC) to support our dietary supplement Quality Control department.
This role focuses on routine testing, sample preparation, and accurate documentation under the Lab Director’s supervision. We’ll provide training on our products, methods, equipment, and standard operating procedures. Candidates should bring a working foundation in laboratory techniques and the ability to apply training consistently.
* What you’ll do
- Perform routine testing using HPLC, pH measurement, titration, thin-layer chromatography (TLC), water activity measurement, and other established methods.
- Prepare samples, standards, reagents, and solutions accurately.
- Follow SOPs, test methods, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Perform instrument checks, calibration verification, and routine maintenance as assigned.
- Record sample preparation steps, calculations, observations, and results clearly and promptly.
- Maintain organized laboratory notebooks, worksheets, instrument logs, and electronic records.
- Identify and promptly report unexpected results, instrument issues, errors, or deviations to the Lab Director.
- Keep samples properly labeled and stored, and maintain a clean, organized laboratory.
* What we’re looking for
- At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory testing experience.
- Relevant college laboratory experience may satisfy the experience requirement in place of commercial work, including hands-on coursework or academic research involving HPLC or other listed testing techniques.
- Practical experience operating an HPLC and performing sample preparation. Please describe your level of independence with the instrument.
- Experience with several of the following: pH measurement, titration, TLC, water activity measurement, analytical weighing, and solution preparation.
- Strong attention to detail, including accurate calculations, dilutions, and record-keeping.
- The ability to read, understand, retain, and consistently follow written procedures.
- Good organization, basic spreadsheet skills, and clear communication.
- Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to complete assigned testing on schedule.
- Sound judgment about when to troubleshoot within an approved procedure and when to ask for guidance.
* You do not need experience with every listed technique, but you should have a solid laboratory foundation and be comfortable learning additional methods.
* Training and growth
You’ll work closely with our Lab Director and receive hands-on training in our testing methods, quality procedures, and documentation requirements. During the initial training period, we’ll assess your accuracy, consistency, understanding of procedures, and ability to perform assigned work independently.
As your proficiency and the business grow, opportunities may include broader responsibilities, and potential growth within the company. Advancement and pay increases will depend on demonstrated performance and business needs.
* Pay and schedule
- Starting pay: $25/hour during the initial three-month training period.
- Performance review after three months, with an opportunity for pay increase.
- If applying for part-time initially, please include your available days and hours.
* How to apply
Please submit your resume and a short note describing:
- Your laboratory experience and the types of products or samples you’ve tested.
- Your HPLC experience, including sample preparation, instrument operation, and any chromatography software you’ve used.
