Position Summary
The Houseperson assists in cleaning and maintaining all hotel public areas, including restrooms, hallways and stairwells, to quality standards, and supports Room Attendants and guests with linens, supplies and requests.
Essential Duties
- Clean public restrooms and bathrooms, dust furniture and pictures, polish fixtures and remove spots
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors in the lobby, hallways, stairwells, elevators and other public areas
- Clean and restock the fitness room, breakfast area and pool area where applicable
- Empty carts of soiled linen, dispose of trash, and keep entrances, parking lot and sidewalks clear of litter
- Restock housekeeping carts as needed, and deliver clean linens, towels and amenities to floors
- Deliver items to rooms upon request, including rollaway beds and cribs, and assist in cleaning guest rooms as needed
- Help set up and break down meeting and event spaces
- Monitor and report maintenance or safety issues promptly to the supervisor or engineering team
- Maintain proper storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required, or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Minimum of 1 year of housekeeping or houseperson experience
- Attention to detail, functional and technical skills, and ability to interact with all types of people
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees
- Ability to work under pressure during busy periods and to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays
Physical Demands
Requires standing and walking about 95 percent of the workday. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb and crawl as work tasks require, and to lift up to 50 pounds of housekeeping product and equipment. Considerable repetitive motion of the hands, wrists, shoulders and back is required, along with close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
Work is indoors and outdoors in a fast moving environment. Must be available on weekends, holidays and varied shifts, and able to handle stressful situations during busy periods.
