We are looking for an experienced, hands-on mechanic to join our used car dealership as an On-Site Mechanic / Dealership Runner.
The ideal candidate must have previous mechanic experience and be able to perform basic automotive maintenance and identify common vehicle issues. This position is not strictly a runner position — you will be responsible for helping maintain our inventory and making sure our vehicles are properly serviced and ready for sale.
### Responsibilities
- Perform basic maintenance and mechanical work on used vehicles
- Perform oil and filter changes
- Check and top off fluids
- Replace batteries, bulbs, wipers, and other basic components
- Perform basic brake maintenance and repairs
- Check tires and tire pressure
- Inspect vehicles for basic mechanical issues
- Identify problems and communicate necessary repairs to management
- Assist with getting vehicles ready for sale
- Take vehicles for smog inspections, oil changes, gas, car washes, tire services, and other necessary services
- Drive and move vehicles safely around the dealership and to outside vendors
- Pick up and drop off vehicles, parts, and dealership supplies
- Keep the vehicle inventory organized
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized lot
- Help with general dealership operations and errands as needed
- Communicate with management regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance needs
### Required Qualifications
- Previous professional mechanic experience is REQUIRED
- Must have hands-on experience performing basic automotive maintenance
- Must be able to independently perform routine vehicle maintenance
- Must have basic knowledge of engines, brakes, batteries, fluids, tires, and general vehicle systems
- Must be able to identify common mechanical problems
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and around vehicles throughout the day
- Must have a strong work ethic and attention to detail
### Important
This position requires actual mechanic experience. We are looking for someone who can handle the basic maintenance needs of our used-car inventory without needing constant supervision.
You must be comfortable working on vehicles, diagnosing basic issues, performing routine maintenance, and knowing when a vehicle needs additional repairs or professional attention.
