Overview
We’re a small electronics manufacturing company looking for a hands-on Production Lead/Manager. Right now the team is small, so this is a working lead role — you’ll spend real time on the production floor while also owning the daily schedule, quality, inventory, and process documentation.
This is a good fit for someone who likes being close to the work in a smaller environment. As the company grows, there may be opportunities for this role to expand, but the immediate focus is on running production well day-to-day.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prep daily production based on materials and due dates
- Set up production equipment for runs (including our SMT machine)
- Troubleshoot and fix production equipment when issues arise
- Jump in and do circuit board assembly and other production work when the schedule is tight
- Monitor quality closely (including solder joint quality)
- Improve inventory accuracy, kitting, and material flow
- Create and maintain clear operating instructions and SOPs
- Flag inventory shortages early
- When production is slower, focus on process improvement and organization
Required Experience
- Hands-on manufacturing production experience is required (electronics manufacturing or EMS strongly preferred)
- Experience working on a production floor — not just office, engineering, or warehouse roles
- Ability to read drawings, prints, and work instructions
- Willing and able to work on the floor as a working lead
- Reliable and proactive
Strongly Preferred
- Experience setting up SMT / pick-and-place equipment (loading jobs, adjusting parameters)
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing production equipment
- Circuit board assembly and soldering experience
- Ability to recognize good vs. bad solder joints
- Experience writing or improving SOPs / work instructions
- Previous shift lead, line lead, or production lead experience
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with IPC standards
- IPC-A-610 certification
- Experience with 3D printers
- Engineering degree (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related) is a plus only if combined with strong hands-on production experience but not required
Pay: $60,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
