The Senior Bookkeeper is a hands-on role that will both enter/execute data and supervise the financial and accounting operations of El Chingon Management Group, understood to include all of the corporate entities and business locations under
the group's umbrella. These responsibilities will include: the maintenance of the accounting and bookkeeping system, production of financial reports (through QuickBooks), and assist in the development of budgets, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
THIS IS A HYBRID POSITION WITH FLEXIBLE HOURS. SHOULD BE PREPARED TO GO TO THE OFFICE (GASLAMP AREA OF DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO) FOR WEEKLY MEETINGS.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations and Management
• Oversee the accounting operations of the Company and those of related businesses, ensuring the existing organizational structure and set of routine processes (including x-business processes) are being followed
• Supervise (directly or indirectly) employees who work within the accounting department
• Enforce the accounting procedures and policies with relevant managers and employees at GBOD Hospitality Group locations and businesses
• Manage monthly and yearly close processes
• Manage loan balances among companies
• Provide payroll oversight and support
• Conduct spot audits of Company accounting or financial processes as needed
• Serve as admin for all users on QB Hosted Enterprise
• Participate in cashflow planning
Transactions and Accounts
• Full service, high volume bookkeeping
• Accruals (13, 4-week periods per year)
• Manage bank and credit balances to ensure availability of funds for operations
• Journal entries (for daily sales and payroll)
• Create and work with memorized transactions
• Maintain consolidated chart of accounts
• Bank and credit card imports, transaction matching, and reconciliation
• Create billing between companies
• Ensure the accurate representation of all transactions in the bookkeeping system
• Accounts payable: Ensure that AP are recorded paid in a timely manner, vendor balances are maintained, and all reasonable discounts are taken
• Accounts receivable: Prompt collection, tracking outstanding balances
• Maintain and properly log fixed asset records
• Ensure the completion of monthly bank reconciliations
• Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions and an orderly accounting filing system
Reporting and Analysis
• Issue timely and complete reports on a schedule determined by the Company or as needed
• Systematically observe variances from the budget and report significant issues to the Company
• Provide data to the COO to create management cost reports
• Develop annual budgets and forecasts as this becomes possible given financial data
• Run additional Quickbooks reports as requested by the CEO or COO
Filings and Compliance
• Manage compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including EDD/EFTPS,
Sales tax payments and returns
• Coordinate with company CPA to resolve year end bookkeeping issues and accurately adjust books to reflect actual reporting to state and federal government
• Provide all necessary information to company CPA in the process of preparing taxes for the management group as well as any of its affiliated companies or businesses
Miscellaneous
• Additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
• Expert level in Quickbooks
• Minimum four years working in accounting under limited supervision
• Supervisory experience in a bookkeeping/accounting environment a plus
• Recent experience in high volume bookkeeping environment
• Minimum one year experience in accounting administration within the restaurant/hospitality sector
• Highly proficient in Excel
• Must maintain confidentiality
• Possess strong work ethic, honesty and integrity
• Must exercise sound business judgement and decision-making
• Proven organizational and project management skills
• Must work well with management and employees
• Ability to work flexible hours reliably and dependably, including late nights or on weekends, or work on short notice to meet firm deadlines
• Must be an observant self-starter and initiator with the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
• Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple assignments
• Competent and comfortable in a fast-paced, hectic environment
• Maintain a friendly, approachable demeanor at all times, even with competitive, demanding internal and external customers
