CNC Mill Setup Machinist – Day Shift
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
Position: Full-Time
Pay Range; $30.00 -$37.00 (based on experience and capacity)
RJ Machine is looking for an experienced CNC Mill Setup Machinist who can independently set up and operate CNC milling machines and consistently produce high-quality precision parts.
We are looking for someone who understands machining—not simply a machine operator. The right candidate should be comfortable setting up jobs, selecting and installing tooling, making offsets and program adjustments, inspecting their own work, and troubleshooting issues when necessary.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC milling machines.
Read and understand blueprints, setup documentation, and work instructions.
Set tools, establish work offsets, and make necessary tool and wear offsets.
Read and understand G-code and make basic program edits at the machine.
Work with Fanuc controls.
Select, install, and inspect cutting tools.
Produce precision machined parts to print specifications and required tolerances.
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other common inspection equipment.
Monitor tooling and replace worn or damaged tools as necessary.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.
Maintain an organized and clean work area.
Work cooperatively with programmers, QC, supervisors, and other machinists.
Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications
2+ years of CNC mill setup experience preferred.
Must be capable of setting up CNC mills with limited supervision.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and GD&T.
Ability to read G-code and make basic program edits.
Experience setting tooling and making offsets using Fanuc controls.
Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
Experience using standard precision inspection equipment.
Ability to hold tight tolerances and consistently produce quality parts.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and stand for the majority of the shift.
