Position Overview:
NorthStar is looking for an Estimator with 3+ years of experience to join the team and support project delivery right away. This is a strong opportunity for someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure to real estimating work, close mentorship, and a chance to grow with a firm that is being built intentionally from the ground up.
You will work directly with the Principal on a range of public-sector and institutional projects. The role includes quantity takeoffs, estimate organization, drawing review, pricing support, and helping assemble clear, client-ready deliverables.
Responsibilities:
Prepare quantity takeoffs from drawings and design packages
Assist in developing conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates
Review drawings, narratives, and consultant documents for scope and coordination
Help organize estimate workbooks, trade summaries, and backup
Support assumptions, exclusions, and allowance logs
Assist with pricing research and cost data compilation
Format estimate reports and proposal documents
Participate in internal review and QA/QC processes
Help maintain project files, templates, and estimating tools
Qualifications:
3+ years of estimating, cost consulting, preconstruction, or related experience
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field preferred
Familiarity with building drawings, specifications, and construction scopes
Strong Excel skills
Experience with takeoff software is preferred
Strong attention to detail and organization
Clear written and verbal communication
Willingness to learn and take ownership
Interest in public-sector and institutional projects is a plus
