Summary of Position The Director, Participations is responsible for overseeing the preparation, review, and issuance of participation statements and payments for Lionsgate’s television portfolio. This role oversees complex contractual reporting obligations, manages a team of participation professionals, and partners closely with Business Affairs, Legal, Finance, Distribution, and Production Accounting. The Director serves as a subject matter expert in television participation reporting and is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely statement preparation, contractual compliance, and continuous process improvement.
The role also supports feature film participation reporting as needed, with television operations representing the primary area of focus.Responsibilities Lead the preparation, review, and approval of television participation statements across domestic and international productions
Ensure compliance with contractual reporting requirements for producers, talent, rights holders, and profit participants
Resolve complex reporting issues, participant inquiries, and contractual interpretation matters
Manage and develop participation managers, analysts, and coordinators
Drive knowledge sharing and cross-training initiatives across the department
Serve as a key liaison between Participations, Legal, Finance, Distribution, Production Accounting, and Business Affairs
Lead process improvement initiatives related participation reporting
Participate in systems implementations, testing, and enhancements
Provide oversight and review support for feature film participation reporting as business needs require
Special projects as assigned
Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
10+ years of entertainment industry experience in participations, royalties, residuals, or related accounting functions.
Strong understanding of feature film and television profit participation structures
Advanced level of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivots, links, macros)
Prior management experience preferred
Experience interpreting complex participation agreements and contingent compensation provisions
Ability to effectively communicate with other team members and business units
Strong analytical and organization skills with the ability to multi-task and meet strict contractual deadlines
Working knowledge of SAP
