We're a mobile window and door screen company serving San Diego. We have more work booked than we can get to, so we're adding a full time technician. This is a W2 position with a regular paycheck, paid time off, and a path to move up. Not a 1099 gig.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll run a company truck to homes across the county and handle window screen and screen door work on site. Rescreens, new screens, sliding doors, retractable doors, and security doors. Most jobs are same day and finish in one visit. You'll schedule, measure, build, install, and deal directly with homeowners. When the route is done, you're done.
Our shop is in Clairemont. Once training is complete, you'll start and end each day there. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to around 4pm, with the last appointment of the day booked at 2:30. Weekends are rare. If a different set of days works better for you, we're open to it.
PAY
- $25-30 an hour to start, depending on experience.
- Raises tied to skill milestones instead of time served. Running screens on your own, then measuring on your own, then quoting and installing premium doors. Each one comes with a raise. We'll give you the checklist on day one so you know what you're working toward and what it pays.
- Monthly bonuses on premium door sales and mesh upgrades, paid on top of your hourly. Set dollar amounts per item, not a vague percentage.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
- Company truck and trailer once training is complete
- Paid time off and paid holidays starting day one.
- All tools and materials.
- Training. You don't need screen experience, but it would be a big perk if you had it. We have a training program and an experienced tech who will work alongside you until you're running jobs solo.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Comfortable towing a trailer, or willing to learn.
- Able to lift and handle materials, work with hand tools, and be on your feet all day.
- Someone homeowners are glad to have in their driveway. On time, friendly, cleans up.
- Comfortable talking with homeowners in English. You'll be explaining options, answering questions, and quoting work on site.
- Reliability. That one matters more to us than anything else on this list.
HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED
Background in any hands on trade. Window or door installation, garage doors, patio enclosures, framing, general construction, or serious handyman work. If you've hung a door and measured an opening, you'll recognize a lot of this.
Fair warning about the work. It isn't complicated, but it is a real skill. Screening a frame so it comes out tight, square, and clean every time takes practice, and getting fast at it takes longer. We'll train you and we're patient about it. But this is a trade, not an easy job, and we want someone who's interested in getting good at it.
WHY THIS JOB
We're growing. The person we hire now will be first in line for a lead technician role as we add more people. If you want a trade you can build a career in, send us a note.
