We are looking for a dependable Saw Operator to join our warehouse operations team. The Saw Operator will be responsible for accurately cutting aerospace metals (stainless steel, nickel alloys, and aluminum) to customer specifications using our two Amada HA 250W band saws. This position is central to meeting customer requirements on time, with precision, and in compliance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100/AS9120). The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Duties
- Operate CMS’s Amada HA250W band saws to cut bar, plate, tube, and extrusion to exact dimensions.
- Read and interpret cut lists, work orders, and job travelers to determine cutting requirements.
- Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, squares) to verify accuracy of cuts.
- Properly identify, label, and stage cut pieces with tag numbers for full material traceability.
- Follow CMS’s quality and material handling procedures to ensure compliance with aerospace standards.
- Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and notify management of any issues.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, following company safety policies and PPE requirements.
- Assist with packaging and material handling, including use of forklifts
-Support warehouse team with inventory movement, staging, and shipment preparation when needed.
Experience & Skills
- Prior experience operating Amada band saws or similar horizontal saws in a metal service center, machine shop, or fabrication environment preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and measuring requirements.
- Familiarity with aerospace or industrial materials (stainless steel, nickel alloys, aluminum) is a plus.
- Basic math skills for measurement conversions (inches, fractions, decimals).
- Ability to safely operate forklifts .
- Strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork.
