Sun Coast Marine Services, Inc. is hiring experienced Marine Mechanics and Mechanic helpers to join our team at one of San Diego’s busiest boatyards. This full-time role involves working both dockside and in the yard.
MARINE MECHANIC
Responsibilities:
-Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs per manufacturer specifications
-Troubleshoot and maintain marine engines, plumbing, and electrical systems (AC/DC)
-Manage time effectively and document all work using company apps
-Communicate progress and issues promptly to supervisors
-Support and mentor entry-level mechanics as needed
Requirements:
-Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
-Must have own hand tools
-3+ year marine technician experience
-Marine tech certification a plus (ABYC, etc.)
-Knowledge of diesel engines, marine plumbing, and electrical systems preferred
-Ability to lift 50 lbs, work independently and in teams
-Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Compensation: Competitive Wages (depending on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
MECHANIC HELPER
This is a hands-on role assisting our experienced mechanics with maintenance and repair of marine vessels and equipment. No marine experience required (but basic mechanic knowledge preferred) — we will train the right person!
Responsibilities:
-Assist mechanics repairs, and maintenance of boats and systems
-Transport tools, equipment, and parts between the yard and dockside
-Keep work areas organized and follow all safety procedures
-Use company apps for job tracking and documentation
-Support general yard operations as needed
Requirements:
-Valid driver’s license (required)
-Basic hand tools (preferred)
-Mechanically inclined; basic mechanical skills REQUIRED
-Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in a marine environment
-Able to read, write, and communicate in English
-6+ months experience in mechanical trades (preferred, but not required)
Compensation: depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
