We are a quality-focused landscape company that takes pride in maintaining beautiful, healthy, well-cared-for properties throughout North San Diego County. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Landscape Maintenance Team Member, you will work with your crew to provide high-quality landscape care for residential and other professionally maintained properties.
Responsibilities include:
Proper pruning and shaping of shrubs and ornamental plants
Selective and natural-style pruning rather than excessive shearing
Lawn mowing, edging, string trimming, and turf care
Weed removal and weed control
Deadheading and seasonal plant maintenance
General plant health observation and care
Identifying common signs of irrigation problems, pests, disease, and plant stress
Basic irrigation inspection and adjustment
Checking sprinklers, drip irrigation, emitters, and irrigation coverage
Cleaning landscape beds and maintaining neat bed edges
Leaf and debris removal
Mulch and soil amendment installation as needed
Seasonal landscape cleanup
Proper use and care of landscape tools and power equipment
Maintaining clean, organized trucks, trailers, equipment, and work areas
Communicating property concerns or needed repairs to the crew leader or supervisor
Working efficiently as part of a professional landscape maintenance team

The ideal candidate will have professional landscape maintenance experience and a strong understanding of proper landscape care.
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous professional landscape maintenance experience
Understands proper pruning techniques
Can safely operate standard landscape maintenance equipment
Has basic knowledge of irrigation systems and can recognize common irrigation problems
Can identify common landscape plants or is willing to continue developing plant knowledge
Notices problems instead of simply walking past them
Pays attention to details and takes pride in leaving a property looking exceptional
Works efficiently while maintaining quality
Can follow instructions and established company procedures
Works well as part of a team
Is dependable, punctual, and ready to work each scheduled day
Treats clients, coworkers, properties, tools, and equipment with respect

A valid driver's license and clean driving record are strongly preferred for employees who may operate company vehicles.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Landscape maintenance is physically demanding outdoor work. Applicants must be able to:
Work outdoors in varying Southern California weather conditions
Perform repetitive bending, kneeling, lifting, walking, and standing
Safely lift and carry landscape materials, tools, and equipment
Work productively throughout a physically active workday
Safely perform assigned duties using proper tools and equipment
Reasonable accommodations will be considered as required by applicable law.
WHAT MAKES A GREAT RUSTICA TEAM MEMBER
We value employees who see the whole property.
A strong team member notices a broken emitter, a stressed plant, weeds beginning to emerge, a shrub that needs corrective pruning, or an area that simply does not look right—and brings it to the team's attention.
We want people who take ownership of their work and can look back at a completed property with pride.
WHY JOIN RUSTICA GARDEN WORKS?
We believe excellent landscapes are created and maintained by skilled people who care about their craft.
We offer an opportunity to work with a professional landscape company where quality, horticultural care, teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail matter.
This position is a good fit for an experienced landscape professional who wants to be part of a company that values doing the job correctly—not simply getting through the route as quickly as possible.
