North County Trade Tech High School is seeking a dependable, organized, and self-motivated Nutrition Services Assistant & Day Custodian to join our team. This full-time, school-year position plays a vital role in supporting our Child Nutrition Program while helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus for students, staff, families, and visitors.

Position Information
• Position: Nutrition Services Assistant & Day Custodian
• Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
• Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., August 3, 2026 through June 4, 2027
• Compensation: $ 20-$24 per hour, depending on experience
• Benefits: Comprehensive Benefits Package
• Reports To: Office Manager
• Retirement: Position participates in Social Security

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Child Nutrition Services
• Prepare serving areas for breakfast and lunch service.
• Serve meals to students in accordance with USDA, California Department of Education, and school nutrition program requirements.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and accurately record daily meal counts.
• Complete meal production records and required documentation.
• Receive, inspect, verify, and properly store food deliveries.
• Assist with weekly meal ordering and inventory.
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen, cafeteria, serving areas, equipment, and food preparation surfaces.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
Custodial Responsibilities
• Clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned campus facilities throughout the school day.
• Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, clean windows, doors, sinks, drinking fountains, and other fixtures.
• Empty interior and exterior trash and recycling containers.
• Restock restroom and custodial supplies.
• Perform routine and deep cleaning of assigned areas.
• Conduct daily campus walkthroughs to identify maintenance, safety, or cleanliness concerns and report issues to the supervisor.
• Assist with campus setup and cleanup for meetings and school events as needed.
General Responsibilities
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment.
• Communicate professionally with students, staff, families, vendors, and visitors.
• Use Google Workspace and other assigned software to complete required documentation.
• Attend required meetings and complete assigned trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial, food service, or school experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.
Physical Requirements
• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally move heavier items with assistance or appropriate equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Safely operate custodial and food service equipment.
Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of:
• DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance.
• TB clearance in accordance with California requirements.
• Food Handler Card (required within the timeframe established by the school, if not already obtained).
• Completion of all required Child Nutrition Program, workplace safety, and mandated trainings.
• First Aid/CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification if required by the school.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and meet all requirements for working in a California public charter school environment.
