Because Distinct Construction Solutions performs work on schools, private residences, and other sensitive job sites, applicants must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to meet all job site access requirements. Candidates must be able to represent the company professionally around clients, school staff, children, inspectors, subcontractors, and the public. Employment may be subject to a background check after a conditional offer of employment, in accordance with applicable law. Any background information will be reviewed based on the nature of the position, the specific job site requirements, safety responsibilities, and legal compliance.
## About Us
Distinct Construction Solutions is a general contracting company specializing in new home construction, ADUs, additions, remodels, concrete, grading, foundations, and full-scope construction projects throughout San Diego County.
We are looking for an experienced **Skilled Tradesperson / Construction Artisan** to join our team. This position is not for an entry-level laborer. We are looking for someone with real hands-on construction experience, strong field knowledge, and the ability to work across multiple phases of construction.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in **concrete, foundations, grading, site preparation, and general construction**, while also being capable of assisting with framing, demolition, layout, rough carpentry, finish work, and other field responsibilities as needed.
Because we are a general contractor building new homes and managing full construction projects, we need someone who is skilled, reliable, clean, organized, safe, and able to work without constant supervision.

## Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Perform general construction work on active job sites
* Assist with concrete preparation, forming, placing, and finishing
* Assist with foundation work, footings, slab preparation, and layout
* Assist with grading, compaction, excavation support, and site preparation
* Read basic plans, measurements, and field layouts
* Perform demolition, cleanup, and site organization
* Assist with framing, blocking, backing, and rough carpentry
* Assist with exterior and interior construction tasks
* Load, unload, move, and organize tools, equipment, and materials
* Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely
* Help prepare job sites for inspections
* Support project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors in the field
* Perform quality work that meets company standards

## Required Experience
Qualified candidates should have experience with:
* General construction
* Concrete work
* Foundations
* Grading and site preparation
* Basic framing and carpentry
* Demolition
* Measurements and layout
* Hand tools and power tools
* Job site safety
* Working around subcontractors and active construction schedules
This position requires someone with several years of real construction experience. We are looking for someone who understands how a project moves from phase to phase and can help keep the job moving forward.

## Safety Requirements
Safety is required on every job site.
All team members must wear and use proper personal protective equipment as required, including:
* Hard hats
* Work boots
* Safety glasses
* Gloves
* High-visibility clothing or vests when required
* Any additional PPE required for the task being performed
We do not want to babysit grown adults. If you think you are too experienced to follow safety rules, company standards, or job site procedures, this is not the right position for you.

## Schedule
This is a full-time position.
Typical schedule: 7am-3:30 pm
**Monday through Friday**
Some Saturdays and Sundays may be required depending on project deadlines, inspections, concrete pours, weather delays, or urgent job site needs.

## Compensation
Starting pay:
**$35 per hour**
Pay may be negotiable in the future depending on experience, skill level, reliability, professionalism, and ability to perform across multiple areas of construction.
