Job Title: Paralegal
Overview
Our client is a Charlotte-based law firm with more than 50 years of experience serving clients in family law, elder law, and civil litigation matters. The firm is seeking an experienced Paralegal to support multiple attorneys, with a primary focus on family law. This position will be responsible for managing case files, drafting legal documents, coordinating court-related activities, communicating with clients, and ensuring cases progress efficiently through all stages of litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, judgments, correspondence, and other case-related materials
- Support attorneys throughout the litigation process, with a primary focus on family law matters
- Manage and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy, organization, and timely updates
- Coordinate and track court deadlines, hearings, filings, and case milestones
- Assist with discovery processes, including document collection, review, and coordination
- Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, documentation requests, scheduling, and follow-up needs
- Manage attorney calendars and schedule meetings, hearings, court appearances, and client appointments
- Prepare case materials, exhibits, and supporting documentation for court proceedings
- Monitor active caseloads and ensure deadlines and deliverables are met
- Respond to emails and maintain ongoing communication with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and legal staff
- Provide administrative and case management support to multiple attorneys as needed
Qualifications
- 4-5+ years of paralegal experience, preferably supporting family law matters
- Experience drafting legal documents, motions, judgments, and court filings
- Experience managing litigation matters from case intake through resolution
- Familiarity with discovery processes and court procedures
- Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience communicating directly with clients and legal professionals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple attorneys in a collaborative environment
Work Environment
- Business professional office environment
- Position is primarily onsite, five days per week
- Up to three pre-approved remote workdays per month available
- Based in Charlotte, NC
