Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pathologists’ Assistant to support the Anatomic Pathology Department under the supervision of the Chief of Anatomic Pathology, Director of Operations, and Clinical Specialist Supervisor. The Pathologists’ Assistant will be responsible for gross examination, description, photography, and preparation of surgical specimens, as well as assisting with frozen sections and laboratory administrative functions.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are PA(ASCP) certified or eligible for certification within 12 months of hire.
Job Details:
- Position: Pathologists’ Assistant (PA-ASCP Eligible or Certified)
- Contract: 52 weeks (1 year) contract role (shorter assignments may be considered)
- Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (09:00 - 17:00)
- Shift Notes: Flexible shifts between 9:00 AM – 8:30 PM; Every other weekend and holiday required.

Responsibilities:
- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens
- Describe, photograph, and document specimens accurately
- Assist with frozen section procedures
- Prepare tissue samples for histologic processing
- Maintain pathology protocols, reports, and laboratory documentation
- Support quality assurance and laboratory compliance standards
- Assist with administrative duties, data management, and instrument maintenance
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely diagnostic services
- Participate in teaching and training activities when required
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Pathologists’ Assistant
- Bachelor’s degree in a biological or health sciences field (Biology, Biomedical Science, etc.)
- Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
- Must be: PA(ASCP) certified, OR Eligible for PA(ASCP) certification and able to obtain certification within 12 months of hire
- Candidates must currently be working as a Pathologists’ Assistant with stable work history
