The Responsibilities Of The IT Support Intern
The Information Technology (IT) Support Intern provides technical support to agency staff and stakeholders, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of hardware and software systems. Under the guidance of the IT Manager, the IT Support Intern gains hands-on, real-world experience by assisting with all agency IT needs including, but not limited to, installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems while troubleshooting technical issues as they arise. By maintaining operational continuity and providing high-level customer service, the IT Support Intern plays a vital role in ensuring that our team has the digital tools necessary to serve the children and families of South Carolina effectively.
This position will report directly to the IT Manager. The chosen candidate should have excellent customer service skills, be able to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, assist with the implementation of new technologies, and provide training and support to team members. Employee must possess strong organizational skills, and initiative. Must use high level of professionalism and discretion in day-to-day communication. Must exercise good judgement. Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to learn new technology programs quickly with high levels of accuracy.
- Assists with the provision of day-to-day technical support to staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and basic network issues. Assist with documentation of IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and user guides to support knowledge sharing and standardization.
- Assist with setup, configuration, and deployment of desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment. Assist with coordination and preparation of computer equipment for employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, device imaging, and access removal.
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets, including inventory tracking, equipment assignments, and lifecycle status. Conduct periodic physical inventory counts of IT equipment and reconcile discrepancies with inventory records.
- Assist with user account management, including password resets, access requests, and basic permissions under supervision
- Provide support for audio/visual equipment and conference room technology as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Manager.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- High school diploma and currently enrolled in an accredited university/college with a major related to information technology.
