About the Role
Leidos' Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) organizion is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to join our Configurion Management (CM) team. In this role, you will partner with program managers, engineers, subject mter experts, and cross-functional teams to develop, maintain, and improve technical documention supporting complex products, systems, and programs.
The successful candide will play a key role in ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, compliance, and quality across engineering, operional, and customer-facing documention. This position requires a strong understanding of technical writing principles, document lifecycle management, configurion control processes, and continuous process improvement.
The ideal candide is a detail-oriented professional who can transle complex technical concepts into clear, concise documention while collaboring effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Documention & Publicions
- Author, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical and operional documention, including:
- System specificions
- Technical manuals
- Service and maintenance documention
- Procedures and work instructions
- Process documention
- Functional descriptions
- Training merials
- Reports and presentions
- Business proposals and customer deliverables
- Transle complex technical informion into clear, concise, and user-friendly documention for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop document outlines, drafts, and final publicions while ensuring compliance with customer, contractual, regulory, and organizional requirements.
- Coordine reviews and approvals with engineers, program managers, and subject mter experts.
- Conduct technical editing and quality reviews to ensure documention accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Incorpore redlines, revisions, and updes while maintaining publicion standards and document integrity.
- Manage document conversion activities and valide outputs across multiple forms and plforms.
Technical Publicions Management
- Maintain and continuously improve the Technical Publicions Manual and associed documention standards.
- Develop and manage document temples, style guides, and publicion standards.
- Ensure documention aligns with industry standards, customer requirements, and Leidos policies and procedures.
- Support the planning, development, and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual program deliverables.
- Establish and maintain documention best practices th improve efficiency, consistency, and quality.
Configurion Management & Compliance Support
- Support configurion management activities reled to technical documention and controlled program deliverables.
- Review and analyze documention packages and program da deliveries for accuracy, completeness, traceability, and compliance.
- Support functional and physical configurion audits as required.
- Assist with document stus accounting and change control processes.
- Ensure proper version control and maintenance of controlled documention repositories.
- Support technical writing activities associed with configurion-managed products and systems.
- Support Configurion Management activities, when required, in accordance with program requirements and business needs.
Process Improvement & Collaborion
- Identify and implement process improvements th streamline documention workflows and increase efficiency.
- Drive process improvement initiives to standardize temples, publicion standards, document workflows, stus accounting, and procedural implemention.
- Collabore with engineering, program management, quality, manufacturing, and other functional teams to ensure requirements, milestones, and commitments are met.
- Communice effectively with document authors, reviewers, and stakeholders throughout the document lifecycle.
- Interview subject mter experts and technical staff to gher and valide informion required for documention development.
- Support the resolution of documention and process-reled issues requiring analysis and independent judgment.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and peer reviews to less experienced technical writers when approprie.
- Communice regularly across functional teams to ensure project deliverables, milestones, and commitments are achieved.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualificions
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communicion, English, Journalism, Engineering, Business, or a reled discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 4+ years of experience in technical writing, technical publicions, configurion management documention, or a reled field.
- Demonstred experience developing and maintaining technical documention for engineering, manufacturing, software, systems, or defense-reled programs.
- Strong understanding of the fundamental principles of technical writing, including document planning, audience analysis, content development, technical editing, document lifecycle management, publicion standards, and version control.
- Experience working with controlled documention in highly reguled, classified, or sensitive environments.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems; Windchill experience preferred.
- Proficiency with technical publishing and authoring tools, including Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext, XML-based authoring systems, and/or equivalent technical documention plforms.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communicion skills, with strong organizional, problem-solving, and adaptability capabilities.
- Excellent time management, prioritizion, and project coordinion skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstred experience influencing and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders in a complex, mrixed organizion.
- Strong tention to detail and commitment to documention quality and accuracy.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualificions
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, government, manufacturing, or technology organizions.
- Experience supporting Configurion Management (CM) processes and documention control activities.
- Experience supporting configurion audits, compliance reviews, and controlled technical da environments.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, schemics, software documention, technical da packages, and product lifecycle documention.
- Experience developing documention in accordance with military, government, industry, or ISO standards.
- Experience using Windchill, Teamcenter, or other enterprise PLM/document management systems.
- Experience supporting programs involving classified, export-controlled, or highly reguled environments.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $65,650.00 - $118,675.00
