OVERVIEW: At the Westin Anaheim Resort we want to build an experience that is memorable and unique for our event guests. The Event Meeting Specialist (EMS) are skilled in a wide range of event functions with the responsibility of making sure the event is well-executed from start to finish. Whether setting up or breaking down the materials, transporting supplies, taking orders, interacting with guests, or anything in between, the EMS makes every transaction feel like part of the experience.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
- Meet group coordinator/planner prior to function and make introductions.
- Ensure that all arrangements are agreeable and offer assistance where needed.
- Read and analyze banquet event order in order to gather guest information, determine proper set up, timeline, specific guest needs, buffets, action stations, etc.
- Walk event space, check room temperatures, ensure set-ups, production and A/V are to client’s request.
- Walk VIP suites to ensure they are ready for arrival. And follow up with amenity deliveries.
- Ensure all deliveries have been distributed.
- Respond to and try to fulfill any special banquet event arrangements. Follow up on special banquet event arrangements to ensure compliance.
- Handle all client’s request and maintain constant communication within all hotel departments. Is the liaison between the client, the Event Services Manager and operations.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect.
- Support team to reach common goals.
- Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by his/her superiors.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of high school diploma. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Is able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Is able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
- Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e. g., small print).
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e. g., to identify defects).
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps
- Proficiency working with various computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. CITY (preferred).
- Proven record of organization, detail-oriented, and able to make productive and efficient decisions.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to make sound decisions immediately without supervision.
- Detail oriented.
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Personable and friendly.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
