Overview:
FT/ 40hrs. The Foster Care Case Manager plays a vital role in restoring hope and stability to children and families by providing compassionate, professional support within a mission-driven environment. This role walks alongside foster youth and caregivers, ensuring each child’s physical, emotional, and educational needs are met with dignity and care. The Case Manager partners closely with foster parents, service providers, and community agencies to advocate for safe, permanent, and nurturing homes. Through regular home visits, documentation, and case planning, this position ensures compliance with licensing and county standards while never losing sight of the child behind the paperwork. The ideal candidate is relational, organized, and deeply committed to serving vulnerable children with excellence and integrity. Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly or bi-weekly in-person visits with foster youth and foster families to provide support, guidance, and trauma-informed, therapeutic case management services.
- Advocate for foster youth to ensure timely access to required services, including medical, educational, mental health, and developmental supports.
- Collaborate closely with County Social Workers, service providers, and community partners to promote safety, permanency, and well-being for each child.
- Participate in multidisciplinary Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, treatment team meetings, and clinical consultations to support case planning and receive supervision and guidance.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, including contact notes, incident reports, court reports, and quarterly summaries in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations involving youth or families and participate in an after-hours emergency when they arise which often looks like text messages to support foster caregivers, and after hours telephone calls. In extreme cases, and in person response may be required.
We accept students out of graduate school with strong internship experience, 2 years social work/child welfare experience preferred.
Qualifications:
- Must have a master’s degree in social work or related field.
- Be 21 years or older due to County contract requirements.
- Maintain a valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record of at least 3 years as required by Olive Crest’s insurance carrier.
- Must maintain vehicle insurance throughout course of employment.
- Maintain criminal record clearance.
- Must have CPR and First Aid certification upon hire and maintained throughout employment
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30lbs.
- Must be able to walk on unstable ground and to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, use hands/ feel, climb, balance, and walk frequently.
- Apply reason in problem-solving situations where only limited standardization may exist. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
- Must have a philosophy of support for at-risk children and families in line with the mission, vision, values, and statement of faith of Olive Crest.
