Accountabilities
Reporting to the Global CFO, the primary responsibility of the VP of Finance is to provide strategic financial leadership for the US and Canada region, partnering closely with senior leadership to drive commercial performance, enable decision-making, and ensure alignment with broader organisational objectives. This role is accountable for shaping regional financial strategy, enhancing business performance, and leading the finance agenda across wholesale, retail, and e-commerce channels, while proactively identifying risks and opportunities to support sustainable growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles across wholesale, retail, and e-commerce, partnering with functional leaders to develop aligned and commercially robust financial plans.
- Lead the consolidation of monthly financial results across multiple entities and business units, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and actionable insight.
- Oversee financial reporting, including management reporting packs, statutory reporting outputs, and performance reporting across key business areas.
- Manage the monthly financial close process across multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Oversee core accounting operations, including fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, and bank reconciliations.
- Lead balance sheet review and governance to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all entities.
- Coordinate annual tax filings and interim payments in partnership with external advisors.
- Lead external audit and banking review processes, acting as the primary finance contact for auditors and advisors.
- Ensure strong financial controls and compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and external regulatory requirements across the region.
- Drive financial planning and performance management across wholesale, retail, and e-commerce channels, providing clear insight into key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Define and maintain financial performance metrics and reporting standards to enable consistent, data-driven decision-making.
- Oversee intercompany accounting and foreign entity reporting to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across jurisdictions.
- Provide strategic leadership to the US and Canada finance function, ensuring alignment with regional and global priorities.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, building capability, accountability, and commercial strength.
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, enhancing efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness.
- Act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, influencing financial and operational decision-making.
- Build strong cross-functional and executive relationships, influencing beyond direct reporting lines.
- Champion a commercially focused finance culture, ensuring strong alignment between financial insight and business strategy.
- Attract, develop, and retain high-calibre talent, building a sustainable succession pipeline within the function.
- Champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across the finance function and wider organisation.
Requirements
Requirements:
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role within a multi-entity organisation.
- Strong experience operating in a regional or multi-country finance leadership capacity (US and/or Canada exposure preferred).
- Industry experience within retail, wholesale, or apparel sectors preferred.
- Strong technical expertise in multi-entity accounting and intercompany structures.
- Highly commercial and data-driven, with a proven ability to translate financial insight into strategic business decisions.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills across both quantitative and qualitative data sets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Hands-on leadership approach with the ability to operate strategically and operationally as required.
