GFT is seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Coordinator to join our Bridge / Roadway group in Meriden, CT. This is a hybrid position with a primary work location at our Meriden, CT office.
What you’ll be challenged to do:
Step into a role where you sit at the center of bridge and roadway projects, helping turn planning into execution. You will bring structure to complex work by tracking project financials, reviewing invoices, and monitoring progress against budgets so teams have a clear view of performance. Your work will help guide decisions, keep priorities aligned, and ensure projects stay on track. You will also play a key role in supporting field operations by coordinating logistics that make bridge inspections possible. From working with local agencies and arranging police support to keeping municipalities and DOT partners informed, your communication will directly impact how smoothly projects run. Along the way, you will support billing accuracy, maintain compliance, and help GFT deliver reliable infrastructure solutions.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Review of subconsultant invoices
- Review of vendor invoices
- Daily tracking & input of vehicle mileage and fuel expenses for billing purposes
- Monthly progress reports of hours/dollars spent vs project work completed
- Coordination/approval requests to client for new staff or changes in payrates
- Maintaining and submitting employee training certifications to meet client requirements
- Weekly requesting State/local police assistance to facilitate bridge inspection projects
- Monthly notifications to municipalities advising of traffic control activities, with frequent updates
- Weekly notifications to DOT of proposed bridge inspection activities, to include all subconsultant activities
- Daily/morning notifications of proposed work for the day and work completed the previous day – GFT & subs – for billing verification
What you will bring to our firm:
- 2+ professional experience supporting capital project teams, engineering departments, or maintenance and operations programs, or related areas within transportation or transit & rail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and common document management practices.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
What we prefer you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Experience with tools such as ProjectWise or Power BI.
- Knowledge of capital project delivery processes and construction coordination within transit environments.
- Familiarity with Connecticut-based public transit agency processes, particularly work block planning, is a strong plus.
- Ability to travel to off-site project or operational facilities as needed.
Compensation: The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $100,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.

- Completion of the following: NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (FHWA-NHI-130055), NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges and/ or Bridge Inspection Techniques Non-Redundant Steel Tension Members (NSTM’s) (FHWA-NHI-130078)
- Exposure to NDT methods or interest in learning them
- FAA Part 107 drone certification
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or structural analysis tools
