PFMis currently seekinganexperiencedPublic FinanceProject Manager(internally titled Senior Managing Consultant)orSenior Project Manager(internally titled Director)to work in our WestPublic Financepractice. The successful candidate(s) will work with public finance clients across sectors on the West coast. Travel throughout the region will berequiredas client needsdictate. The positionmaybebasedout ofeitherour San Francisco, Los Angeles,or Phoenix/Chandler office,and has a hybrid work arrangement.
The Project Manager will lead municipal bond transactions, non-transactional client projects, and marketing / RFP support. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of public finance, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive transaction execution, and client relationships in a fast-paced and collaborative environment To be successful, one must have a superior understanding of the financial markets,experience working in public sector finance, advisory services, consulting, and/or underwriting, and ademonstrated ability to manage a business plan.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Lead structuring and execution of bond transactions and other financial projects, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and meet client expectations.
- Maintain & expand existing relationships with clients in state, local government, transportationagenciesand public utilities to support a growing business.
- Attending trade shows and conferences
- Gathering information tosubmitand complete proposals
- Acting as the primary or secondary point of contact for client questions
- Serving on PFM’s marketing team up through the point of final prospect interviews
- Developing and independently implementing a marketing plan to bring in new business
- Develop and analyze financing options and strategic recommendations that meet our clients’ capital financing needs
- Manage,generateand coordinateclient deliverables
- Present financial analysis, recommendations,reportsand other materials to clients at meetings
- Work seamlessly with team members who travelfrequently, have varying levels of in-office presence,and may be based in offices around the country.
- Ensure all financing transactionscomply withrelevant regulations, policies, and industry best practices
- Research and understand industry trends, regulations, and the competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations
- Build andmaintainrelationships with client, prospective client, and industry contacts
- Manage financing teams and overseetimelyperformance by all staff.
- Management, mentorship, and training of financial analysts and associate staff.
- Collaborate across multiple internal & external teams to support the long-term growth of the business practice.
- Senior Project Manager candidateswill be expected to build a self-sustaining business plan within two years of hire.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now, or in the future.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least4years of work experiencefor Project Manager candidates and at least7yearsof work experience for Senior Project Manager candidates, preferably in public finance,investmentbanking, or related financial advisory roles, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
- Experience completing financial transactions start to finish including complex financial modeling and quantitative analysis
- Knowledgeof andcontacts within the state and local governments as well as the sector of focus.
- Currently holds MSRB Series 50 certification oris abletoobtain within60 daysof hire.
- Strong quantitative, problem solving,and analytical skills.
- Excellent writing skills and effective personal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of municipal financing tools
- Experience conducting and summarizing complex financial modeling and analysis, with ability to distill complex information into clear and actionable insights
- Advancedproficiencywith MS Word,Excel, andPowerPoint,and DBC Finance®.

Theanticipatedbase salary forProject Managersis $90,000 - $135,000and for Senior Project Managerstheanticipatedbase salaryis$115,000-$160,000.Thisposition is also eligible for annual performance-based bonuses. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
