Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking a Registered NurseEMS Coordinator for our dynamic Emergency Department. You will provide clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. What you will do in this role:
- Responsible for greeting and offloading all EMS arrivals during scheduled shift
- Meeting Assumption of Care standards as set by HCA
- Collaborates with EMS partners to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service
- Assists in managing department flow through coordination with assigned Clinical Nurse Coordinator
- Provides recommendations related to the EMS offloading process.
- Recommends and implements courses of action including training and development of relief EMS RNs
- Responsible for properly reception of the patient and initiating patient care
- Will properly hand off each patient to receiving RN for continuity of care
- Functions as a clinical resource for staff members and assist in necessary education of the nursing staff when not offloading EMS
- Prepares and ensures equipment in the EMS offload area is functional
- Participates in quarterly educational and training events with Hospital staff and EMS agencies
Requirements:
- BSN required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Critical Care or Emergency Department setting required.
- Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
- Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- CEN/CPEN national board certifications preferred; required within 6 months of position effective date.
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
